New bill could require ID checks for game purchases

The average videogame player is, what now… 30 years of age or so? But, despite our grizzly neckbeards and massive beer guts, we still get carded for everything. We get carded for booze. We get carded for cigarettes. And if this newly introduced bill passes the U.S. House of Representatives, we’ll be carded for our videogame purchases, too. The Video Games Ratings Enforcement Act would require ID checks for the purchase of any M or AO rated title....

New Overlord: Dark Legend screenshots and saucy information

I could barely contain my joy when I announced that Codemasters was bringing moreOverlordto us, and it’s good to see that Wii fans will be able to enjoy this darkly comic IP thanks toDark Legend, a game which puts players in the clanking boots of a younger Overlord getting to grips with his power. It looks like the graphics could stand to improve, as Nintendo has proven that the Wii is capable of far better than this, but hopefully Codemasters can utilize the Wii to its fullest and make a very intuitive “evilPikmin” style experience....

Nintendo 64 emulator on iPhone looks great

There’s not much to go off here, but from what we can see, this N64 emulator looks like it’s shaping up to be solid. The strangely named 3G4 was developed by a 14-year-old, believe it or not. I don’t know what mojo this teen is packing, but Super Mario 64 looks to be running nicely in the above video. We hearthat the emulator runs pretty great so far. There are issues likeduplicate button registers, delay of presses, and crashes when heavy gameplay occurs, but those are being looked into....

I was under the impression we were over the file size restriction drama, but apparently we still have room for improvement.Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrathis getting HD-ified for PlayStation Network next year, and although it’s not too late for an Xbox LIVE Arcade version too, there are some issues, currently. Developer Just Add Water wrote about one such issue on its blog: “On XBLA there is a 2 GB size limit we have to adhere to, currently the title weighs in at 2....

Noel Gallagher blames violent games for UK knife crime

As the United Kingdom becomes more of a cesspool, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher has rolled up his sleeves anddone his bit to help, by blaming violent videogames. His comments come after lamenting that “scumbags are taking over our streets.” “People say it’s through violent video games and I guess that’s got something to do with it. If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk [cannabis] and they come so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these video games, it’s really, really scary....
