Happy Holidays from Brink, with 100% more tapir charity

Holidays are a great time for gaming news. Not because there’s something industry-shaking going on (there’s not), but because videogame companies like sending out Christmas cards. They also sometimes like donating money to save endangered tapirs in South America, but it wasn’t until Splash Damage came along that these two innocuous activities could be combined. What you see above all these words is Splash Damage’s tapir-themed Christmas card promotingBrink, their upcoming, post-apocalyptic first person shooter, not to be confused withBrink!...

Happy Mass Effect 2 DLC deal day!

What do you do when a game makes an appearance on every outlet’s “Game of the Year” lists? You discount the hell out of the expansion content, of course! Today’s Xbox 360 “Countdown to 2011” deal is on Mass Effect 2’s adds-ons,“Lair of the Shadow Broker,”“Overlord,”and“Kasumi.”They’re a measly 200 MS Points a piece, which means even if you pick up the worst of the batch (arguably “Kasumi,” by most accounts), you’re getting a good deal....

Horror game D.A.R.K coming to iOS soon

Chillingo recently (a week ago — OLD!) released a trailer for its upcoming horror gameD.A.R.K. It has more than a faint whiff ofDead Spaceabout it, but if the company’s past output is anything to go by, it’ll be pretty damn good. The trailer doesn’t show much, but we know that it’s about surviving against alien monstrosities in a game that mixes shooting and roleplaying elements. [ViaPocket Gamer]

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning looks good, you should care

I’m legitimately surprised that people don’t seem to be making any sort of fuss aboutKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. You’d think a game developed by formerElder Scrollstalent, with R.A. Salvatore writing the story and Todd McFarlane designing the setting, would garner some attention. Weirdly, few people seem to care, and yet I’ve been hearing that any who play it are instantly impressed and consider the game strong enough to stand up next toSkyrim....
