Dragon Quest Monsters looks so delicious that I might try to eat it

God, I love the DS. I love it. I love it. I’m not sure I have ever purchased as many games in a mad white heat as I have for the little portable Ninty. See above for some footage from the upcomingDragon Quest Monsters. These games kill me with their quirky personality and awesome nods to the Dragon Warrior games of the past. If they keep up at this rate, DQ is going to overpower theFinal Fantasyseries....

Valve’s Gabe Newell was among the many in EA’s parade of speakers during today’s EA press conference. Newell took the stage to talk a bit aboutLeft 4 Dead, and how the “Director” AI could scale gameplay in real time. Earlier today, we saw two short demonstrations of this Director AI in action. In the first example, four co-op players weren’t doing very well. They were low on ammo and inaccurate in shooting....

E3 09: Five new characters coming to the US Tatsunoko

Capcom’s latest press release for the hotly anticipated US version ofTatsunoko vs. Capcomhas some interesting new details on what’s going to be different between this version of the game and the original Japanese one. In addition to the five new characters, Capcom also mentions that they had to remove one of the original characters due to licensing issues. No mention of who the removed character is, or who any of the new five will be, but I’d love to see some more Darkstalkers characters make an appearance....

EA: Huh, maybe we shouldn’t release all of our games near the end of the year

Consumers know all too well how frustrating it can be when publishers save their very best titles for the November through December games industry clusterf**k, while there are plenty of summer weeks that go by with no solid releases. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, GM of Redwood Shores Studio Glen Schofield admitted that EA had learned a few things from releasing two of its new IPs,Mirror’s EdgeandDead Space, during that period. “I think that we traditionally thought that people only buy games at Christmas or around holiday time, and now we’re looking back and going, ‘You know what,GTAlaunched in May;Resident Evilcomes out in March’....

Edge of Twilight is still called Edge of Twilight

Don’t panic, anybody!Edge of Twilight, the steampunk action game that Destructoid has been anxious for since forever, is still calledEdge of Twilight. Developer Fuzzyeyes was apparently involved in a bit of legal nonsense, trying to make sure the game could have its name without infringing on the copyright of EDGE Games. So yeah, that’s been resolved. There really isn’t much of a reason to run this story, outside of the fact that I’m really hyped for this game and love having an excuse to talk about it....

Experts unsure why Nintendo issued 3DS warning for kids

PerhapsNintendo’s warningthat children under the age of six shouldn’t play 3DS games with the 3D effect turned on was a bit over-dramatic. But don’t take my word for it; the New York Times asked eye specialists about the potential harm the handheld could cause. “The fact you’d watch 3-D in a theater or a video game should have zero deleterious impact whatsoever,” explains Dr. Lawrence Tychsen, a professor of pediatrics and ophthalmology at Washington University in St....

Final Fantasy XIV news: New religion, surnames, soundtrack

SeveralFinal Fantasy XIVtidbits have floated up to the top. It’s kind of like shabu-shabu. We’ve skimmed them off ofVG247for you, like you would the foamy scum: First off, the upcoming PS3 and PC Square Enix MMO will have it’s own religion. Meditate on that. Game producer Hiromichi Tanaka said “It will have its own religion. It’ll be a really unique type of world.” He hints that it will have both medieval and sci-fi elements, so you won’t be able to call it a game that takes place in the past or future....
