In the days and weeks following the release ofModern Warfare 2, you likely heard a lot of complaining. PC players were (and still are) pissed about the lack of dedicated servers and seemingly ineffective patches, console players were afraid of getting inadvertently banned for playing on ‘hacked’ servers, and both groups were really, really annoyed at the prevalence of all the cheaters. According to Infinity Ward, these complainers were just a small, vocal minority....

A 9-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by a 25-year-old “friend” because of aTony Hawkgame, and this is possibly one of the most messed up game-related stories we’ve ever seen. According to reports, Anthony Maldonado was visiting his family in Harlem and engrossed in his new PlayStation system with his adult killer Alejandro Morales. The boy’s family had briefly left the 9-year-old in the care of Morales during the night while they were playing the Tony Hawk game....

Gloomy dungeon? Check. Oddly dressed characters? Check. Bad catchphrases? Check. Extended combat animation, turn-based battle system, and weirdo monsters? Check — check — andtriple check. Yeah, Sega’s upcoming Nintendo DS titleSands of Destructionis an RPG. Consider this confirmation. The Sonic publisher recently released a second trailer for the game. Two new games are headed to Xbox LIVE Arcade this week:Bubble Bobble Neo!andCommand & Conquer Red Alert 3 Commander’s Challenge(orC&CRA3CCfor short). Both will set you back 800 Microsoft Points, and both are releasing on Wednesday as always. Bubble Bobble Neo!is an HD remake of the original game, which, around here, is probably reason enough to add $10 to your Xbox LIVE account. Personally, I’m most excited about the online (and offline) 4-person co-op mode....

Innewsthat might make myPodcastleco-host (andrampantHalofanboy/CoD4hater) Wardrox rip his lungs out in disgust,Halodeveloper Bungie has admitted that they could learn a thing or two from Infinity Ward’s critically acclaimedCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We have a lot to learn from their success too, they did some very innovative things to keep people going and their experience-rewards system was something that we paid a lot of attention to… I think it’s a great game and single player obviously is fantastic… They did a hell of a job with their set pieces, of scripting certain moments that they were really sure the player was going to actually see and experience first hand....

According to a Capcom Europe Twitter post, the publisher has big plans for this week’s Tokyo Game Show, with game announcements and more. “If I had to guess at the Capcom announcements,”teases the tweet, “I’d guess at four new games announced and some [Marvel vs. Capcom 3characters].” We’d made our appointments with Capcom, and it hasn’t clued us into anything fresh… not that we’d be able to tell you anyhow....

In the past, I have made it no secret that I’ll always prefer in-game, uncut footage of videogames over an expertly cut trailer. Time and time again I’ve been fooled by very convincing trailers that just happen to leave out the bad parts, which is why I have mad about basically everyDiRT 2video for falling into the latter group. Sometimes getting what you wished for isn’t very fun at all. Codemasters sent out four separate videos ofDiRT 2today, all of which are straight-up gameplay footage....

The other dayI told you all that the patently awesomeSakura Wars: So Long, My Lovefor the PS2 and Wii would be arriving on store shelves in February, two-thousand-and-ten. I also told you that people afraid of cheesy English dubs would not need to worry, as all copies of the game would come on two discs: one with English voiceovers and one with the original Japanese voiceovers. Apparently NIS-America is intent on making meA DIRTY LIAR, as the game’s confirmed release details retroactively make much of what I told you the other dayutterly false....

Guns to heads was the thing for Atlus’Persona 3. Glasses on faces seemed a bit less cool/edgy inPersona 4, but these werecoolglasses. Now you can have a pair of your own, thanks to Cospa. They have a pair of glasses that look just like those hip ones you saw inPersona 4on its protagonist, complete with the SMPTE color bars on the left temple side of the frames. These are designed for use with perscription lenses, which probably explains their 7,350 yen ($89) asking price....

Have you heard the latest track from Cray-Z? It is totallyoff the hook. The guy has more flow than the Hoover Dam. It’s clear that he is destined to be a hip-hop legend.

With music-based games currently enjoying a massive profile thanks to the likes ofGuitar HeroandOsu! Tatakae! Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, you might have expected father of the genre and creator ofPaRappa The RapperandVib-RibbonMasaya Matsuura to hit one of the big next gen machines with his latest project. What you might well not have expected was for him to put out a one-button portable game for the humble iPod, but that’s exactly what he’s done....

How pathetically predictable. The first of the big mainstream “news” outlets has finallytaken the bait, with British tabloid (read: glorified toilet paper)The Daily Mailclaiming thatModern Warfare 2has sparked “outrage” with its controversial scene in which players experience the unwholesome side of a terrorist attack. Of course, whenThe Failsays “Outrage,” it actually means, “We asked one person with a known history of hating videogames and that’s enough for us to run a story....

This review was the hardest thing I have ever done. On the one hand,EndlessOceanis a videogame in which you can technically pet a dolphin for hours at a time. Amazing. Best game ever. 11/10. But on the other hand, there are a lot of gamers reading this review that may not, how should I put this,want to make love to the ethereal mistress that is the seathe way I do....
