Dog fighting game Dog Wars pulled from Android Market

A morally questionable game in which players train canines in order to put them through illegal dog fights has been pulled from the Android Market. The game was yanked after outrage from gamers around the world, as well as actress Alicia Silverstone and former dogfighter Michael Vick. I find Vick’s outrage funny, since he’s already hadhisfun with the dog torture. Let others have a turn! At least it’spretendthis time. By all accounts, the game was little more than a crapMafiaclone, so nothing of value was lost....

DSiXL dated and priced for North America

Nintendo has just announced the date and price for its chunky-sized DSi alternative, the DSiXL. Billed as a device that “plugs the gap” between handheld gaming and home console experience, the larger sized DSiXL will cost you a cool $189.99 and will be available in North America from March 28. E3 10: Hands-on Platinum Games’ frantic shooter, Vanquish

Admittedly, whenVanquishwas first announced, I didn’t let it make much of a blip on my gamer radar. Sure, Shinji Mikami is a legendary game designer, noted for his work on theResident Evilseries, and arguably popularizing survival horror. But the concept — a Japanese take on the traditional Western third-person shooter? I know how this ends: a game that feels like a corny, try-hard copy-cat of better works by designers who already “get it....

EA responds to ‘bankrupt strategy’ comments

A few days ago, former EA executive Mitch Lasky wrote a scathing blog about Electronic Arts’ business practices and what he called a “bankrupt strategy.” While EA declined to issue an official response, communications head Jeff Brown has responded in an interview, claiming that Lasky is just bitter because he never became EA’s CEO. “Mitch needs to try de-caf,” mocks Brown. “It’s never easy being turned down for a job, but most people don’t spend three years obsessing about it....

eShop and DSiWare games have no threshold for royalties
