Forty billion years ago, Sony Computer Entertainment’s Kaz Hirai told the world that it could take developers up to nine years to figure out how to maximize the hardware of the PlayStation 3. His statement was an exaggeration, of course, but it’s interesting to note that Crytek has supposedly pushed the shiny black machine to its limits withCrysis 2. At least, they have according to Crytek’s Cevat Yerli. “The interesting thing is we did run a performance analysis on the PS3 devkit, and you know the funny thing is the occupation on all the CPUs, the Cell and the GPUs, is pretty much –- the needle is at the limit,” the executive toldGamasutra....

Once a PS3 exclusive andnow also coming to the Xbox 360, Tecmo’s Quantum Theory is getting a date change. TheGears of War-ish third-person shooter gets another delay from its previously set March 2010 date, now to Summer 2010. They say that there isn’t a solid release date yet, but they plan to make an announcement soon. Maybe they’re going to polish it up a bit. Maybe they’re going to work out some of theGears of Warvibe and make it more original....

A while ago, we brought word that LG had won an injunction against Sony,blocking any new PlayStation 3 systemsfrom entering Europe. Now we’ve heard that “tens of thousands” of PS3s being seized by officials in the Netherlands (where new hardware enters Europe), according to European press. The Korean firm alleges that the PS3 infringes on its Blu-ray technology, and demands that Sony buys a license before selling any more consoles....

What did you think ofNiGHTS?” Attendees were all talking about how the Sega Saturn game about flying through your dreams made its transition to the Nintendo Wii. Yesterday, I happened upon Namco Bandai’s enormous booth, which apparently had more games on display than I could count with two hands. That said, only a few of them really caught my attention, and of those, only a couple had an entire section of the booth dedicated to them, one of which just happened to be the latest installment ofGundam Musou— orDynasty Warriors Gundam, as we know it. Suffice to say, I wasn’t expecting many changes in terms of game play, and in terms of the actual controls and basic combat, that held true....

I really lovedPeace Walkeron the PSP. It was such a good game and its only problem was that it was on the PSP. The funny thing is I’m not bitching about the PSP version for the lack of a second analog stick. No, I was more upset because the lack of Wi-Fi multiplayer meant I would never ever play the game with anyone else. And I don’t know about you, but beating the bosses is really really really hard without the help from a few other people....
