Sony, however, is not a company to let PR setbacks, a lack of third party support, or crap reiterations of the same system keep a brand down, and that’s why the PSP2 is all but certain. It also sounds like the next generation of the PSP will kick arse, if the gossip’s to be believed....

It seems like every other week there is a new rumor about an upcoming Sony portable. The PSP2? Who knows. It seems like they are always killed by a lack of hard evidence and usually a stupid-looking concept header image (like the one above). This time around, though, speculation is supported by a newhelp wanted at over at Sony Japan. According toGamespot, they’re looking for someone to evaulate a “new game machine” that is “part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals....
If you believe Microsoft, the world is creaming its little yellow pants over how impressive Kinect is, but Sony doesn’t think it’s that hot. Writing off the technology for its mass of technical problems, Sony Computer Entertainment engineer Anton Mikhailov believes Move is a faster, sexier, less problematic solution. “I think the tech is a bit, not so much immature, but not quite up to spec in what we think,” he says....
You may have already seenour blurbabout the PSP 3000 announcement at Games Convention 2008, but here’s the skinny direct from Sony. The new PSP 3000 has an updated LCD screen “with a wider color gamut and anti-reflection technology,” and will also sport a built-in microphone and Skype software. Otherwise, it’s the same form factor as the PSP-2000. Even though the monthly NPD data is used by all game companies to gauge sales and successes, we have to be mindful of how those numbers are presented. This highly competitive industry has quickly learned how to take something negative and make it sound amazing, and likewise, they’ve become skilled at making an enemies’ victories look like total failures. Figures that should be completely straightforward become confusing when extra data is interjected, and press releases these days seem to be full of it — and I mean that in more ways than one....

This trailer forSuper Mega Worm, a game for iPod/iPhone expected to release later this month, amuses the hell out of me. Part of this is down to the presentation, the way it lures you in with that achingly-slow progression of pollution. That bit is so boring the worm automatically looks more awesome. But the worm is pretty awesome already. According to the game’s description at thedeveloper’s website, this is the Great Death Worm Wojira....
