While only some of you may love Bruce Springsteen, it’s hard to argue with free stuff. This January, in conjunction with the release of Springsteen’s new album and his Super Bowl half-time performance, Activision will be offering up two free tracks forGuitar Hero World Tour. One of the tracks, “My Lucky Day,” comes from his new albumWorking on a Dream. The other is the classic track “Born to Run,” from the 1975 album of the same name....

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know the first thing aboutTron, and this teaser trailer isn’t helping matters. It’s for the forthcomingTrongame, and it appears to be a teaser for the game’s premiere, which will take place at the Spike Video Game Awards on December 12. Apparently, this is the videogame adaptation or tie-in for the forthcomingTronsequel,Tron Legacy, which is scheduled to hit theaters next year. Rockstar Games doesn’t do pre-order items for its games often, so when it does… watch it, it’s going to be something special. The publisher has announced that it will be offering aRed Dead Redemptionpre-order bonus through mega-retailer GameStop and it’s… a special in-game challenge that will get you a special outfit. Huh? Okay, it’s actually a bit cooler than “different outfit.” Users will have the option to vote for one of three different outfits to decide which will be made available as the pre-order bonus....

Our opening gambit for this week’s Destructainment isn’t really videogame related, but we don’t play by the rules on Destructoid, even if we made the rules ourselves. I don’t think you’ll mind much, given that it’s a ridiculous toy commercial from the 60’s, and they’re always good for a chuckle. Ding-A-Ling Fireman to the rescue, indeed. Yes, it does advertise that the Ding-A-Ling Fireman has a “built-in pumper.” Hamza is at PAX, getting drunk and having sex with all his girls, so we’re holding the fort in his stead....

Daybreak The sun rises over the red, dusty earth of the Outback. A small lizard darts into the harsh sun and is quickly pounced upon from below by a black funnel web spider. Life in these barren plains is harsh, but for each dingo shot by a farmer after devouring a baby in what can only be described as “cliche stereotype”, there is a young Australian child (probably descended from rapists) who absolutely adores the Nintendo Wii....

Any indie developer will tell you it’s a challenge to create the title of your dreams, but the bigger hurdle by far is getting the game published and distributed — by someone that won’t rape you for all you’re worth. In a recentGamasutra editorialby Ron Carmel of 2D Boy (developer ofWorld of Goo), he takes a conversational tone towards Microsoft while addressing what he identifies as their three key moves that have turned off indie developers:...

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick haslauded his companyas one that “celebrates entrepreneurial, opportunistic, independent values,” and is considerate of culture when it comes to buying out games studios. Kotick then went for the cheap shot, comparing his company to EA and stating that “it did a very good job of taking the soul out of a lot of the studios it acquired.” A somewhat ironic statement, perhaps, in a time where Activision is hated for sucking the life out of theGuitar Heroseries, while developer Harmonix sided with EA to create the highly successfulRock Band....
