12-year-old playing Sakura in SFIV TV ad, 16-year-olds deemed too elderly

I think this must be some sort of Japanese dream: A 16-year-old schoolgirl portrayed by a12-year-old schoolgirl. In essence, the perfect crime. It seems that Capcom couldn’t find any 16-year-olds that looked child-like enough to play Sakura forthe Street Fighter IV TV spot, so they are doing what many other Japanese businessmen do, and have turned togirls in pubertyfor the answer to their frustrations. I am joking of course, not everyone in Japan is a pedophile....

A Time to Destroy: To Hell with your rules, I’m cheating

[Editor’s note: unangbangkay talks about cheating for his A Time to DestroyMonthly Musingpiece. — CTZ] When it comes time for us gamers to make with the destruction, we do it within the games we play. We smash the skulls and shells of innocent Goombas and Koopa Troopas, bring nameless terrorists to justice in unnamed Middle Eastern countries, and crush enemy nations under the weight of superbly micromanaged armies. What happens, then, when we pick up one bent tin can too many as we hike across an irradiated post-nuclear landscape?...

Activision: EA’s COD trash talk ‘bad for industry’

Electronic Arts hasmade no secretof its desire to knockCall of Dutyfrom its pedestal. In fact, it’s mentioned it so many times it’s starting to look like obsession. Activision has noticed the attempts at trash talk, and fired back by claiming such rivalry is harmful to the industry. “Competition is of course a good thing. It keeps us all on our toes and ultimately makes the games better. It’s healthy. But it’s one thing to want your game to succeed and another thing to actively, publicly say you want other games to fail,” said publishing boss Eric Hirshberg....

An easy guide for easy stuff: Wii for Dummies

So you know how, to us, the Wii seems like the simplest console ever made? Well, to some people, it isn’t (probably because they haven’t been handling controllers of all shapes and sizes for the last 20 years). Case in point, I had my mom visiting a few months ago, and I showed to her thinking it was the “friendly” system for non-gamers. She did ok, but I could tell she was still a little confused about the whole thing....
