Destructoid: THE MOVIE!

We’ve been silent about this for a few months now because Paramount has basically put a gag order on us (by us I mean myself, Niero and Ron — the only people that knew about this project). And actually, we didn’t want to say anything until filming started, but it being April Fool’s and all, we figured people might not think it was real if we gave you a little nugget of info now....

DLC for Trials HD is in the works

If you’ve become addicted to the high-octane ridiculousness of Trials HD on XBLA, I have good news for you. Redlynx is currently working on DLC for the dirtbike stunt riding game. Speaking withConsole-Arcade, RedLynx’s creative director confirmed that the developer is producing more levels for me to perform hilarious and embarrassing attempts at stunts which land me on my back. I do really hope that they make a range of difficulty instead of just pumping out some more difficult tracks for the hardcore....

Does FarmVille turn players into serfs?

Laurie Penney over at The Guardian wrote a piece about FarmVille. She shares her thoughts on the popular Zynga game and comes up with things like: “Farming games tap into a powerful collective wish-fulfilment fantasy: the fantasy of running your own life rather than being a peasant in the neo-feudal hierarchy of corporate serfdom. The precarity and anxiety of modern labour conditions have become more acute during the financial crises of the past two years, and this is precisely the timeframe in which the craze for these online games took off....

Duke Nukem: Next-Gen fan project is a go

Duke Nukem: Next-Gen(tentative title) is a fan-made reimagining ofDuke Nukem 3Dthat uses the Unreal Engine 3 to give the Duke that modern-day grimy look. As with any project of this sort, there was concern as to whether or not Gearbox would allow it to go forward. More often than not, it seems like fans put a tremendous amount of work into these things only to have the license holder in question send out a cease and desist....

Durable console design

MY XBOX 360 DIED! Yah I know, what a shocker. Ok, so let’s forget about prices, technologic power, and fanboy respect – what last generation game console did you feel was built the best? And what about the next generation – PS3, 360, or the Wii – which LOOKS the best. Only take sexiness and durability of design into consideration. And don’t be afraid to make a shout out for the game controllers you love and hate the most from the past....

Dyack says that Too Human hasn’t been in development all that long

Xbox360fanboyrecently got the opportunity to tour Silicon Knights and talk to President of the company, Denis Dyack. In the interview with Dyack it was revealed thatToo Humanhasn’t been in development for a decade. In fact, Dyack staunchly denies the industry consensus. I cannot dispel that rumor enough. That is a bad way to talk aboutToo Humanbecause that is factually incorrect. According to Dyack, the game began development right after Silicon Knights shippedMetal Gear Solid: Twin Snakesin 2004....

Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires still exists, pics prove it

The fine folks at Koei sent us a notice today thatDynasty Warriors 6 Empiresis still, in fact, coming out on June 23 in both the US and EU. They probably felt the need to remind us due to the great distraction that wasE3 2009— what with the shiny motion controllers and all. They also included 100 screens that show both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions in action. Since 100 screens are a bit much to look through, I went ahead and narrowed them down to an even 30....

E3 08: Darksiders: Wrath of War intro

THQ’sDarksiders: Wrath of Waris shaping up to be a really interesting action game. What we’veseensofarhasn’t made it out to be particularly creative or innovative, but it sure does sound like a fun time filled with plenty of hacking and slashing. Darksidersputs players in the role of WAR, the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who is apparently such a badass that his name is spelt in all caps. The Horsemen’s master decided to jump the gun on the whole ‘ending the world’ thing, sending hoards of demons to ravage the earth while stripping WAR and co....

E3 09: Fallout 3 ‘Point Lookout’ DLC looks vastly different

It’sbeen some timesince Bethesda dropped info on its plans for the future ofFallout 3add-ons, but the company has finally given us the first batch of screenshots for “Point Lookout.” Coming to Xbox 360 and PC on June 23, as well as PlayStation 3 on an undisclosed date, this latest DLC looks radically different from the barren Capital Wasteland we’re accustomed to. “Point Lookout” promises to be the most open-ended piece of content yet, and pits players in a swamp-infested, titular beachfront town....
