Midway Newcastle: two weeks to find a buyer, or lights out

According to an (excellent) article posted this morning onThe Guardian, Midway Newcastle has until the end of the month to find a prospective buyer. Midway has beenhemorrhaging cashfor the past six years or so and, in February, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Warner Brothersoffered a $33 million takeover bid last month, but that deal would leave Midways Newcastle and San Diego offices out in the cold. The British devs — famous for last year’sWheelman— are currently working on an unannounced, open-world game that uses a heavily customized version of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3....

New Alan Wake screens: Old bikers playing with toys

WithAlan Wakefinally dated, I’m running out of things to say about it beyond “Give it here. Now.” Yeah, these screenshots look good, but they’re nothing we haven’t seen before. Trees, a cabin, a lake, some foggy environments… a flashlight. Actually, upon a second glance… are those two bikers playing with children’s toys? I mean, your guess is as good as mine as to what’s going on here, but the biker on the right seems to be holding one of those “squeaky hammers” children play with....

New Gotham City Impostors vid: Holy bear traps, Batman!

Warner Bros. has released a new gameplay trailer forGotham City Impostorsand… holy s**t, is that an electric bear trap!?!?! I’ve played the game before, a few months back when it was first revealed, and it was obvious that developer Monolith wasn’t afraid to get a little crazy. But there’s something about this trailer that really is selling me on the idea of this fun, completely nuts multiplayer first-person shooter. Electric bear traps and trampolines… your move Infinity Ward!...

New Mario Bros. Wii is going to be epic, video proof

I realize that the amount of great games landing next month is very, very high, but in all honesty I would gladly sacrifice them all to get my hands onNew Super Mario Bros. Wii. Mario fanboy? Yes, unabashedly, but I don’t really have a reason not to be as far as the main games in the series go (and the majority of his spin-off titles). However, this feeling is not just based on my love of plumbing brothers, there’s video proof that fanatical devotion is warranted....

Nintendo’s Iwata denies DS2 motion sensing comment

Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata on the Nintendo DS successor having motion sensing capabilities: “What? No way. That’s stupid.” I’m kidding. He didn’t really say that.
