An exploit in‘Splosion Manreceived a band-aid, according to official release. At 2 AM PDT this morning, developer Twisted Pixel Games wiped erroneous leaderboard information andtitle-updatedthe hell out of an exploit that allowed people to cheat the game and put up ridiculous scores. Twisted Pixel has dubbed this response, a title update, to the exploit “Splodejement Day.” The title update comes at a perfect time. On September 6th-12th, the studio is throwing a contest called “Speedy ‘Splode,” that challenges players of the Xbox LIVE Arcade title to earn the best possible time in level 3-8....

Electronic Arts has been fairly quiet overSSXwhen it comes to online play, and even multiplayer in general. Next month during gamescom, we’ll hear about a new online mode for the snowboarding game. From the moment Kinect landed in the homes of people, it was inevitable that this would happen. The only thing in question was when. The answer is now. There is now a video on the internet of someone using Kinect to recreate a lightsaber. The creator basically did what every kid has done before and used a wooden stick to pretend he was Luke Skywalker. Except he also used the OpenKinect drivers and OpenCV to overlay light effects in real-time, so I guess his imagination just isn’t as good as mine....

Seaman… quite the concept. A weird evolving babyfish that you could talk to definitely made for one of the Dreamcast’s more unique entries, and if you were a fan then you’ll be glad to hear that game creator Yoot Saito is alive and kicking. I realised a few months ago that the Christmas of this year marks my 15-year gaming anniversary. Atari continues its push into the digital download space next year withDungeons & Dragons Daggerdale, which the publisher announced today for Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and PC. Daggerdalewill be an action role-playing game experience, featuring both single-player and cooperative gameplay for up to four players. Based on the trailer, the game looks to pack a fair amount of real time action of the hack-and-slash variety. And skeletons… lots of them....

IGN’s Podcast Beyond says that Atlus is working on a PS3 exclusive title, and that it might be the next in thePersonaseries. They also report that Atlus is trying to figure out how they’ll announce this new title, and that it may be a post-TGS announcement. In my book, just about any Atlus title announcement is good news, but a next-genPersonawould be spectacular. Either way, it’s good to know that the good people at Atlus aren’t just asleep in their coffins, and that they’re working through the Dark Hour to bring us great games....

The game is a free-to-play MMORPG that drops players into a chaotic world where nations fight over a resource called Neo Steam.
