Zennin Shiboudes trailer confirms it as a 999 sequel

In yesterday’srevealofZennin Shiboudes, the new escape-the-room visual novel from Chunsoft, Dtoider OriginalGman mentioned that he thought the game resembled999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doorsa little too closely. The Vita / 3DS multiplat was tagged as a spiritual successor to999, but I have to agree that there were quite a few direct similarities. Now that the trailer above has been released, it’s pretty clear that there is nothing “spiritual” aboutZennin Shiboudes— it is most definitely a sequel!...

‘Casual’ game developer hates the word ‘casual’

The term “casual” has been thrown around entirely too much ever since the meaningless buzzword was invented and subsequently used as a byword for “crap.” Gladly, I’mnot the only onewho believes this word should be snuffed out, with Dave Thompson of Scottish studio Denki has recently indicated. “We may not find a particular type of game amusing or appealing,” he explains at the UK’s Develop conference. “”But that doesn’t stop them from being a game of equal worth to those titles that we do....

And here is your Kinect lightsaber demonstration

From the moment Kinect landed in the homes of people, it was inevitable that this would happen. The only thing in question was when. The answer is now. There is now a video on the internet of someone using Kinect to recreate a lightsaber. The creator basically did what every kid has done before and used a wooden stick to pretend he was Luke Skywalker. Except he also used the OpenKinect drivers and OpenCV to overlay light effects in real-time, so I guess his imagination just isn’t as good as mine....

His weirdness is still intact too, as he is bringing the bizarreGaboto the iPhone. Check out the above video to see whatGabois all about. Arcade perfect: A tribute to a much missed part of gaming culture

I realised a few months ago that the Christmas of this year marks my 15-year gaming anniversary. I know for a fact that that’s not quite true, as the number of years I’ve actually been playing tails much further back into the mists of time than that, but it all gets a bit blurry dates-wise as I get back into my old ZX Spectrum days, making the actual starting point hard to fathom....

At least the cavemen finish you off …

This weekend, aside from being self-destructive in Miami, I also purchased a new LCD television. It’s gorgeous and honestly I’m tempted to just give up women and devote my life to figuring out how I can copulate with an LCD substrate. Why am I telling you all this? Is it to generate jealousy in an audience prone to violence and crazy stalker-ish tendencies? No, friends, it’s to segue into the above commercial!...

Atlus is working on an exclusive PS3 title, may be the next Persona

IGN’s Podcast Beyond says that Atlus is working on a PS3 exclusive title, and that it might be the next in thePersonaseries. They also report that Atlus is trying to figure out how they’ll announce this new title, and that it may be a post-TGS announcement. In my book, just about any Atlus title announcement is good news, but a next-genPersonawould be spectacular. Either way, it’s good to know that the good people at Atlus aren’t just asleep in their coffins, and that they’re working through the Dark Hour to bring us great games....
