Counterpoint: God of War III is too long, boring

Thought our discussion ofGod of War IIIended with ourofficial review? Think again: our “Counterpoint” series allows editors to share drastically different opinions on games we’ve already reviewed. It’s rare that anyone complains about a game being toolong. Sure, game designer Randy Smith argued as much in his recentGDC rant, but you never hear us regular gamer-types arguing that we gottoomuch for our money. I’ve never personally complained that a game was too long, so long as I liked its basic gameplay....

Destructoid review: Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

If you’re feeling bloated and half-retarded from eating enough starch to make a crude cement mix, a strategy RPG might be the last thing on your mind. But don’t let something like feeling disgusted with yourself for stealing a final glass of gravy keep you from playing games; abandoning our pastime in favor of a well-deserved food coma would awaken a terrible anger in the spirits of the long-dead pilgrims whose only hope for their progeny was mounds of oily food consumed by the bucket and damn fine portable gaming....

Don’t mind me while I pick my jaw up off the floor: new Fragile trailers

Let me tell you what watching these trailers makes me want to do (hit the jump to see the second one). I want to throw open all the windows in my house, throw my clothes to the winds, and sing the praises of Namco Bandai and tri-Crescendo for making a game that looks likeFragilecome to life. Seriously, this is literally the exact type of title, from design to music to action, that puts me on the floor in a writhing tangle of joy, and I hope it may put some of you in the same state of fervor....

Dtoid forumite loves herself some Nintendo

Virutalgirl, a member of our very own Destructoid Forums, recently posted the results of along-term timeline projectfor her graphic design class. The assignment? To create a three-dimensional display that chronicles the timeline of something in popular culture. Because Virtualgirl is effing awesome, she chose Nintendo. The results of her considerable labors (over fifty hours and $250) can be viewed after the jump. According to Virtualgirl, the exact assignment description reads: “Design a 2 and 3-dimensional display that chronicles the history of a people, product, event or place(some examples: Irish Migration in the 19th Century; Portable Sound: from the Transistor Radio to the MP3; etc....

To further expand your horizons, verify to check outthe dTunes blog.] Just about everything I like is at least a little bit funny. For instance, I love the movieEvil Dead 2, the NWA album albumStraight Out of Compton, and the originalResident Evil, despite the fact that they all turned out more hilarious than intended....

E3 08: Hands-on with Cooking Mama World Kitchen

I like the Cooking Mama series. It’s fun, easy to play, and best of all, easy to pick up and put down at any moment. I’m going to be honest though: Ireviewedboth DS incarnations, and as much as I liked them, I felt like I wouldn’t buy the next one unless something about the formula was majorly changed. It wasn’t that I didn’t like the games, but you can only take so much of one thing before you’ve had enough (except kittens and boobs, that is)....

E3 09: Bethesda and Splash Damage’s Brink is the hotness

We clued you in the other day withinformation aboutBrink, the FPS heading to systems next year (PS3, 360, PC). What we learned when we saw the demo, though, is that looks freaking awesome. The whole game takes place on floating island city called the Ark. While meant to be a utopian city, the Ark eventually lost contact with the rest of the world. After that, or during (?), refugees showed up on the Ark from other countries and upset the balance of the Ark populace, thus creating the two opposing sides in the game....

E3 09: Huxley has gone the free-to-play route

To this day, I still have a hard time believingHuxley: The Dystopiais an actual videogame, and not just smoke and mirrors. But apparently it’s playable at E3 right now, so who knows. Since the last time we heard about the game, it’s undergone a few significant changes, and no, I’m not referring to the silly subtitle. Namely,Huxleyhas dropped support for cross-platform play, which doesn’t seem like a big deal at all, but I could see how it could be for some people....

E3 09: Warriors Orochi 2 PSP gets Japanese voices!

WhenWarriors Orochifirst came to the PSP, it was pretty much a direct port. It was still an impressive accomplishment — able to cram 90+ characters and all the maps of the console versions onto a UMD — but the only thing it had to offer fans of the game was the ability to play it on the bus. Not so withWarriors Orochi 2, which brings a few exclusive enticements to the table....

E3 10: Joy Ride looks like a joy… ride?

I am the opposite of sold onJoy Ride. Un-sold? Soldless? Whatever the term would be, driving with Kinect just doesn’t seem like it will be as much fun as, say, driving with any form of wheel-like object in one’s hand. I think I’d take a steering wheel made out of sand paper over nothing. However, it is not my place to judge before I try (or it might be). I can, however, judge the assets we have forJoy Rideand I judge them full of karts and things like that....
