At this morning’s GDC Microtalks, Jesse Schell elaborated on the basic premise behindhis DICE talkconcerning the impending “Gamepocalypse,” as Schell calls it. Schell finished his DICE talk in March by trying to put a positive spin on the inevitable flood of metagames and the treatment of every aspect of our daily lives as some sort of point-based competition. That optimism was almost entirely absent from Schell’s microtalk this morning. After his DICE talk, Schell mentioned that many people worried that the world was heading toward a1984police state....

F*cking really? Yesterday we talked about Kongregate Arcade releasing an App with support for over 300 Flash games on the Android. Exciting stuff, considering how woefully below standards the Android OS is when it comes to mobile gaming. Apparently, Googleenjoysbeing a poor game platform, as it has pulled the App without explanation. Despite being downloaded “tens of thousands” of times and earning user ratings of 4.5/5, the App just suddenly disappeared from the Android Marketplace, with Google providing no due warning or reason....
Bungie have to be tired ofHalo. Since breaking up with Microsoft — they needed some space — the studio has put out several map packs and continued to balance and reorganize the multiplayer features ofHalo 3. Before the third iteration of the shooter series, Bungie worked like madmen to finishHalo 2and its post-release content. And they’re still not done.Halo 3’sMythic map pack looms and theHalo: ODSTexpansion(of sorts) is on the horizon....
