The big title this week isHalo Wars. I’m the residentHalofanboy on staff and I know that I would enjoyHalo Wars. Yet, I have no intention of getting it anytime soon, even for the new maps. I just don’t feel like it could be worth the full $60. I do want to getEat Lead: The Return of Matt HazardandTom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.as soon as possible though. I saw both games in action last year and know they’ll be a ton of fun....

This evening they’ve followed up with the promised teaser trailer as well as a handful of new screenshots.The trailer is personally addressed to you, from Optimus Prime himself. What an honor! It’s short, but it looks pretty flashy, and you can see a bit of what looks to be game play from what I’d assume to be either the Xbox 360 or PS3 version....
Oh,Eliteyou revolutionized the space-trading game genre and brought upon computer gamers 3D gaming of a sort. Then you had two sequels, at which point your creators got in a fight and broke up. Then one of your creators, David Braben, went ahead and said there would be anElite IVand your fans were happy, but that was in 1998 and the game has thus become vaporware to most. However, you wouldn’t be vaporware if you didn’t rekindle people’s hopes every once in a while....
Only problem is,Halobores the piss out of me so I’m just using it as a novelty Ragu display plinth. Some would think it evil to waste early access to a game millions of people are dying to play, but that Ragu ain’t gonna display itself!
Hoardis a game we regrettably haven’t covered before. Having heard mostly good things about this PlayStation Network title in which you play as a dragon (sold!), I figured it would be wise to start sooner than later. A big ol’ patch is now live for North America, after all. While there has been a lot of praise forHoard, it seems the game has a few oft-mentioned faults. That’s where this update comes in, thankfully....
Tucked away in the back of PAX East was a little game calledDyad. It’s incredibly fun;deep yet simple,meditative yet heart thumping, just like many of my favorite games of this generation. Every level ofDyadthat I played introduced a new gameplay mechanic, but the game never strayed a its simple “move, lock-on, shoot” rhythm that’s so intuitive and gratifying. Also simple-yet-complex is the story of the man who madeDyad, and the little homemade roller coaster that he made to play it in....
UK retailersleakedinfo about a possible European release ofPersona 3 Portableover 9 months ago, and European publisher Ghostlight has now revealed that the game will hit Europe on April 29th. Even though it took forever for the game to cross the various oceans and finally get here, Europeans will be able to get a specialcollector’s edition. This will include a 48-page hardback art book, 6 limited-edition art cards, an A3 poster, a special reversible Collector’s Edition inlay, and a special slipcase....
Are you one of the many bajillions who went apeshit overPlants vs. Zombies? If so, then a winner is you, for there seems to be some strong hints at a sequel. According to the above teaser image, we have to save the date of August 2 as some form of undead-flavored news is on the way! The general consensus is that this is the announcement ofPlants vs. Zombies 2, although we’re sure PopCap will remain tight-lipped about it until next month....

The PlayStation Network is down in both Europe and North America, which is perfect timing consideringSOCOM 4,Portal 2andMortal Kombatare now available all across the US. Genius. In Europe, there’s at least an explanation, with SCEE confirming that “maintenance” is the cause. Sony Computer Entertainment America, meanwhile, has been less forthcoming with an explanation. The outages have been going on for about a week or so. It’s all very mysterious. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that was the greatest tech demo ever. The name of the game isPrimal Carnage. Developed by indie team Lukewarm Media, it’s a classic retelling of the tragic dinosaur versus human conflict, as presented in a team-based multiplayer shell. With five classes for each side,Primal Carnagewon’t just be dinosaurs kicking ass one-hundred percent of the time. Hopefully. What’s neat is that the humans play from a first-person perspective while the dinosaurs are strictly presented in a third-person view....
