PSN hack lets users unban themselves, ban others

This game of one-upmanship between Sony and the PS3 modders is getting seriously heated. Responding to the news that Sony waspermabanning modded consoles, a new hack claims to worm into the PSN and allow people to unban themselves. The hack can also be used to ban another console, although they’d need access to that console’s ID, which would have to be obtained from a refurb warehouse/secondhand seller or willingly given up by an idiot....

Resident Evil 6 will ‘reboot’ the series, says Capcom

Resident Evil 5isn’t out until next month, but publisher Capcom is naturally looking to the future, and the sixth installment of the franchise. Suggesting thatRE6will be a “reboot” for the series, Capcom has stated thatRE5could represent the lastResident Evilgame of its kind. Game producerJun Takeuchi has told1UPthat the upcoming fifth game will more than likely be the last of its kind. Some members of the gaming press and those who tried the demo have complained about the game’s similarities toResident Evil 4(while managing to still claim that there’s a mystical “new” control scheme) and it seems that Capcom is willing to address this....

Rev Rant: Sexy Heroines

Every week, sort of, features editor Anthony Burch discusses a topic of his choosing for his Rev Rant video series. He then writes an explanatory introduction to each episode where he refers to himself in the third person. Which is worse — a heroine who overtly panders to your sexual impulses, or one who tries to hide it? I can’t hope to answer that question for anybody else, but I give my own answer to a question nobody was really asking in this week’s Rev Rant....

Review: Fallout 3 ‘Mothership Zeta’ DLC

“Mothership Zeta,” the fifth and final piece of downloadable content forFallout 3, looked really promising. Being abducted by aliens sounded fantastic, and the thought of exploring another new, interesting locale was an intriguing one. Bethesda had an iffy start with the first add-on, “Operation: Anchorage,” but things only went up from there. Each of the DLC packs were better than the last, but what about “Mothership Zeta”? Does it continue this trend and endFallout 3on a high note?...

Review: Sonic Adventure (XBLA)

I still remember playing throughSonic Adventureback when it came out on the Dreamcast. Firing it up again on the 360 re-introduced me to some characters, like Big the Cat and Amy, who I had all but forgotten about. But have my memories betrayed me? Were Sonic’s eyes too green on the Dreamcast? Were his legs too long? Are my jokes too old? I’d better write a multi-paragraphed review so people can read it and find out....

Review: The Saboteur

World War II games are a penny a dozen, having earned a reputation as one of the most overused settings in videogame history. Likewise, the open world genre has been exploited so often and so shamelessly that the whole idea of “sandbox” gameplay tends to be met with yawns and sneers from a great many people. Logically, a World War II open world game should be a recipe for extreme boredom....

Rocksteady: 80% of Arkham City takes place on the streets

Speaking toPSM3, Rocksteady Studios’marketing game manager Dax Ginn revealed that the majority ofBatman: Arkham Citywill take place outside. “Interiors are locked to specific missions, but 80% of the game takes place on the streets,” as he puts it. “This means you can begin the game and just start exploring.” “Our objective was not to make a bigger game world just for the sake of it. We want to fill it with content, and there’s no better world than Batman’s universe to take inspiration from....

Rumor: Voice of Mario teases new Mario game

I wonder if Nintendo is pissed at Charles Martinet right now? The company is known for it’s secrecy, and their tendency to keep new games unannounced for as long as possible. It’s hard to imagine that it was part of Nintendo’s master plan to have the voice of Mario announce to the worldvia Twitterthat there isanothernew Mario game in the works right now, something separate fromNew Super Mario Bros. Sephiroth and Cloud do battle in Dissidia. ‘One Winged Angel’ plays, I yawn

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s Cloud, it’s Sephiroth and “One Winged Angel” is playing. It’s still as effective as it was back in 1997, because Square Enix has totallynotexploited the scenario for all it’s worth over the years. Don’t take my sarcasm the wrong way — I am looking forward to getting my hands onDissidiaand am hoping for a good game. However, Sephiroth and “One Winged Angel” is so overdone by now that something like this — a game where itcouldhave some real impact — is just boring....

Sex or videogames? Canadian women answer!

If you love rampant sex, then you might not want to visit Canada during the launch of a big game. Arecent surveyhas concluded that more women than men would choose interactive entertainment over good old fashioned intercourse, with 29% of Canadian females claiming they would give up sex for a month instead of videogames. By contrast, only 19% of men did the same, proving there are more stereotypical sex-driven males than stereotypical game-obsessed males....

Sixteen-player multiplay with GTA on home consoles? Yes please

Somesaucy detailshave recently come in regarding Rockstar’s new-gen sequel to its hailedGTAseries,Grand Theft Auto IV. Nabbed from Toronto’s PlayStation Holiday Preview Event, these snippets of info should be enough to make anyAutofan’s mouth water. Firstly, Rockstar is currently batting around some ideas for game progression, including opening up all of Liberty City for exploration from the outset. Rather than closing off two thirds of the game world for later unlocking, you could be able to go anywhere you like this time around — something I would approve of, since it’s never fun waiting to break through the convoluted blockades that bar entry to the full map....
