Green Man Gaming pulls EA games from shelves

Digital distributor Green Man Gaming has yanked Electronic Arts games from its virtual store shelves around the world, except for the United Kingdom. It is the second service to do this, with games controversially disappearing from Steam earlier this year. “Bad news folks, we very unfortunately have to pull down EA products from sale in all regions except for the UK,” said GMG’s community manager. “We’re currently in talks with EA to see if this can be changed, however I can’t give any kind of guarantees aside from saying as soon as I know something I will let you know too....

Halo: Reach flies through the air with greatest of ease

While my previous post onHalo:Reachmight have been the height of gaming minutia I think that the video above will be a bit more interesting to most. It’s about a minute of action from the space combat inHalo: Reach. We’ve alreadytold you all about, but as you can see it is full of PEW! PEW! PEW! and the like. I’m a little upset it cuts off before the docking occurs as I’d love to see if they do anything cool with that, but otherwise it looks like the action is coming along pretty well....

Hands-on with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (DS/PSP)

After the marvelous Dyson and I got done playing through the Wii version, we were moved to the handheld versions of the game. Dyson made a mad dash for the PSP version, which is the version I wanted to try out. I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I let Dyson play the PSP. I would later have my revenge by spitting in his Philly cheese steak sandwich when he wasn’t paying attention....

Hollywood Goes Gaming explores the world of videogame film

I originally misread the title of this upcoming Starz show asHollywood Does Gamingand had hilarious visions of Photoshopped porn DVD covers dancing in my head. Someone at the head of this project was not thoughtless enough to make that mistake, thankfully, which allows us to possibly take the concept of a show about videogames in film form a bit more seriously. How much more seriously, however, I can hardly say. Regardless of how well-producedHollywood Goes Gamingmay be, it likely does not address the biggest issue present about the topic: How poor video game films are and the reasons why....

Hudson’s Knights of the Phantom Castle looks great, retro

Hudson’s new iPad gameKnights of the Phantom Castlewas not on my radar until this afternoon. I saw some screenshots of the really nice looking, 16-bit-ish strategy game and was likehey, this looks good!Sprites, role-playing, armies and monsters? This is all stuff I like! You build your force of knights up during the Camp phase, and then you decide on your tactics and gear in the Deployment phase. You’ll work your way through 50 stages using tap and flick commands to…command....

Infinity Ward shoots down Modern Warfare 3 co-op talk

Infinity Ward has put the cards on the table and addressed the many naive fans who have asked if co-op is coming toModern Warfare 3‘s campaign mode — it isn’t. Robert Bowling was recently quoted as saying that co-op was coming to the campaign, but he revealed that his co-op statements were only in reference to the “Spec Ops” mode — a series of short cooperative missions that players can undertake together....

DtoidersMxyzptlkandMudkip5000had the opportunity of a lifetime as they got to interview a zombie fromLeft 4 Dead. Mxy and Mudkip ask Rob the zombie some very important questions aboutLeft 4 Dead, such as why there are so many retards on matchmaking, why there’s only two campaigns playable online and more. Introducing the first videogame matchmaking computer!

Regardless of whether you love it or hate it, this weekend marks the return of everyone’s favorite polarizing holiday, Valentine’s Day! While most people could care less about the “holiday” (me included!), certain companies thrive off the extra business they receive around this time of year. Restaurants overbook, flower shops sell out of everything, and, in particular, dating Web sites get their best traffic of the year! But in a shocking display of segregation, these matchmaking sites only apply toreal-lifepeople....

iOS and Mac game Bumpy Road looks delightful

Simogo’sBumpy Roadfor iOS and Mac is the most adorable thing I’ve seen all day, second only tothis videoof a loris holding a miniature umbrella. Rather than poking around to directly move the main characters’ car, you manipulate the environment with your fingers. It’s a smart, natural use of the touch screen, which you don’t always see. The game is expected to hit the App Stores later this spring.

iPad gets a real, physical analog stick … kinda

Sick of having to touch your touchscreen? Well, thosedays are over, son! The folk at Fling have used science to their advantage and released a physical analog stick that attaches to the screen via a suction cup. Yes, that’s the most absurd thing ever, but it apparently works! Just schlunk the little bugger wherever it’s needed on the screen and it will transfer your thumb movements to the screen, keeping your iPad free of the grease and sweat and bits of pube crumbs that are trapped under your fingernails....
