In case you’ve forgotten: 20+ new La-Mulana screenshots

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not familiar with Nigoro’s action-adventure MetroidvaniaLa-Mulanaor the MSX games (likeMaze of Galious) to which it pays homage. (In brief, you have to guide a whip-wielding archaeologist through an expansive tomb). I am, however, familiar with Nicalis, the publisher that specializes in HD remakes of popular indie games. They’re bringingLa-Mulanato WiiWare (eventually), just like they did withCave Storyand Nifflas’Night Game—La-Mulanais in good company, at the very least....

Indie Nation #59: Windosill

If you’ve ever played a flash-based, pointer controlled adventure game with no inventory puzzles like, say,Samorost(orMyst, if you don’t know whatSamorostis),Windosillbelongs to that as-yet-unnamed game genre. Whatever that genre is eventually called, though,Windosillshould rightfully be considered the best game belonging to it. Mixing graphics so gorgeous they shouldn’t be possible in flash with equally stunning physics and vague-but-fair puzzles,Windosillsomehow manages to be calming without being boring, challenging without being frustrating, and surprising without being gimmicky....

Inside The Game: The Watts Brothers

“If I could look at Zelda and tell her one thing in the face, then I would tell her… I love you… I love you.”Many NES fans don’t know about these 25 year olds who are single handedly responsible for every bit and byte of NES game music that ever graced our ears. FromQ-BerttoElevator Action, these precocious percussionists made them all, and would have gone on to revolutionize the industry’s future if it weren’t for their alcohol and Tyson-esque women problems back in the early 90s....

Insomniac saving Resistance 3 footage for the VGAs

With still more than a week until the Spike Video Game Awards, you just know there’s going to be a bunch more teasers and whatnot in the days leading up to the show. The latest is forResistance 3, which is in the same vein as an earlierlive-action trailer. This one is significantly shorter, but it does tell us that the first in-game footage will be coming soon. Studios tend to save their big, flashy videos for this show, so this should be one forResistancefans to get excited about....

inXile keeps forging ahead in this new Hunted video

A new developer diary forHunted: The Demon’s Forgeprovides some more info about the game’s story, how the characters don’t follow stereotypes as much as their looks would make you assume, and how the inXile studio could really use some more lights. I’m pretty pumped for this one, especially after thatin-game dungeon creatorwas recently announced. For years we didn’t have any proper co-op fantasy hack & slash games, and now we haveHunted,Dungeon Siege III, andDungeons & Dragons: Daggerdaleall shipping within months of each other....

Some new images of the lovelyFinal Fantasy Anniversary Editionfor PSP have been popping up inFamitsuand the like, and they’re definitely worth looking at....

Majin: The Fallen Realm reminds me of something

We first heard about the new IP from the makers of PS3 game Folklore last year during Gamescom. Since then, not much has been heard about Game Republic’sMajin: The Fallen Republic. Now a new Japanese teaser site launches, complete with images and a new video. I don’t know what it is. Perhaps its that whole human-with-a-bigger-creature thing that’s throwing me off, butMajinreminds me of some other games. Not that that’s a bad thing, mind you....

Mirror’s Edge gameplay footage, now in glorious color!

While the footage we’ve seen thus far ofMirror’s Edgehas been pretty impressive, a lot of it felt washed out by bright sunlight effects and sterile environment. With the exception of the bright red objects to give hints to routes, there wasn’t a whole lot of color. At Leipzig today, EA was showing off a new level, called “Stormdrains,” that displays a much larger interior area. Now that the lights aren’t so bright, the colors start to jump out a little more and it’s nice to see that the bright white of the outdoors isn’t necessarily the primary aesthetic....
