Do you want to be really happy? Watch this new Final Fantasy IV DS trailer

I will be completely honest, when I heard that they were remakingFinal Fantasy IVwith fancy 3D graphics for the Nintendo DS I actually wasn’t at all looking forward to it. The Super Nintendo classic is easily in my top ten favorite games of all time and I didn’t want anything tampered with. WouldPalom and Porom’s heartbreaking sacrifice(my favorite scene) have the same emotional impact? No one would ever think to repaint the Mona Lisa, right?...

Dragon Quest meets Hawaiian apparel? Yep, you heard me

I love Dragon Quest, and I have to admit I have quite a bit of Dragon Quest merchandise around the house. My absolute favorite item is myHori controller, which I rarely use because I don’t want to get the little guy dirty, but it makes my gaming room that much happier. I guess Square Enix wasn’t content to stop there with the happy products though, because they have just unveiled a whole line of Dragon Quest apparel which includes, shirts, hats and even a Hawaiian shirt featuring happy slimes....

DS cases that don’t suck

I’ve had my DS for over a month and have yet to find a case I don’t hate. While surfingSiliconeratoday I found these delightful aluminum cases, which snap over your DS and stay on while you play. I like the art a lot, as I am obsessed with all things Japanese, but frankly I’d like a second option with a plain case in a solid color. Besides, I can’t really say I know any guy who would use these, but they’re still a step up from the boring official crap Nintendo is putting out....

DsiWare Dragon’s Lair trailer is totally retro

You don’t often get a nostalgic trailer to herald the arrival of a DSiWare game, but then, you don’t often get a DSiWare game with the retro pedigree ofDragon’s Lair. Yes, the famous adventure of Dirk the Daring is heading to Nintendo’s portable download service, and it’s just as you remember it! Despite the fact that this is an ancient game that probably isn’t even very good these days, it’s the first DSiWare game I’ve cared about, so I may go ahead and spend my free DSi points on it....

E3 08: Liveblogging the Capcom press conference

Today has been nothing but press conferences, talk of press conferences and wondering why we spent the morning starving at Nintendo’s press conference when we were promised food by unknowning staffers — they most certainly did not win thepress conference warwhen it came to our empty stomachs. I’m finally fed, however, soyou’ll hear no more complaining from me. I am on my last press conference of the day however, and I have to say as much as I love hearing all the exciting news, I’m glad … there’s only so much official business a girl can stand before she needs a drink....

E3 09: Sin & Punishment 2 trailer is kinda what you’d expect

Save for the fact that the protagonists appear to be a couple of eight year olds who got lost on their way to the daycare center, this trailer forSin & Punishment 2has no real surprises to offer. Granted, that may not be abadthing: the original game was fantastic apart from its intensely awkward control scheme, and one would imagine that this upcoming Wii sequel will alleviate those problems. Apart from that, the game still looks to be more or less on-rails, still mixes melee combat with hectic gunplay, and is still full of lots of goddamned explosions....

E3 10: PowerGig: Rise of the SixString trailer

Here’s a trailer forPowerGig: Rise of the SixString, because if there’s one thing this industry needs, it’s another music game and more plastic toy instruments. The big gimmick here, allegedly, is a wireless controller that’s also a “real” guitar. So that’s a thing. Watch it, listen to it, laugh at it. Whatever you want, really.

E3 2007: Hands-on with skate

Being the new kid on the block is hard. You might have experienced that first day at a new school, in a new town full of people who’ve known each other for as many years as you’ve been alive. You show up for class, reluctantly wearing an outfit your mother bought for you, carrying an unfortunate colored backpack that has neon tassles tied to the zippers. All eyes are on you....

E3: A Nintendo fanboy’s thoughts on the Wii U

I went into the Nintendo press conference this morning maybe more excited than any person on the planet. When the live orchestra started playingZeldamusic, I started to cry a little. I felt like a kid again.Thisis why I fell in love with videogames. As the press conference went on, I was so looking forward to the new console reveal that I didn’t have time to take in some really exciting (at least, for me) announcements:Luigi’s Mansion 2; newSkyward Swordfootage....

E3: Hands-on with the really strange Mr. Inkjet

Why is this game calledMr. Inkjet? No idea. In fact, the developer I spoke with said the name will probably change. For now just know that this is a strange game that uses the PlayStation Vita’s back touch panel to control a paper-flat guy that floats around in a world where people are out to kill (crumple?) him. Again, this is strange. You’ll use four fingers to touch the back touchscreen, with each finger representing Mr....

E3: Skullgirls footage and screens for you to appreciate

Skullgirlshas been one of those little games to keep an eye on for a while. That is, if you like 2D fighters with handdrawn art from Alex Ahad (who worked onLava PunchandUDON’s Tributebooks), mixed with game design from fighting tournament champion Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont. The game’s engine somehow manages to combine the 2D art with real-time lighting, which is pretty cool. Eight characters make up the roster, and players will be able to share their victories by uploading replays and highlights of matches directly to YouTube and Facebook....

EA’s fake protest creates some real protest

I’d just like to announce that I knew it was a fake from the start (or really quickly) and have documented proof of this fact. That being said, EA’s PR stunt at E3 in which theygot a group of peopleto protest outside the LA Convention Center and hand out pamphlets directing people toWeAreSavedGroup.orgin order to protest EA’s upcoming gameDante’s Infernowas a stroke of genius. you may call it dumb, or cheap or dirty, but the fact remains that it got them a crap ton of press in both the gaming world and the mainstream, and fooled a whole lot of people — whether they admit to be fooled or not....

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin goes gold, not available until February

Telling you that a game has gone gold is a lot like dangling a Big Mac in front of a donkey. You may be saying right now: Brad, you got that all wrong. It’s a carrot in front of a horse. And to that I would reply: No, it’s a Big Mac.I’m not sure where I was going with that.Anyway, Monolith’sF.E.A.R. 2has gone gold. That doesn’t mean much, other than you can be assured that the game will hit your doorstep or retailer on February 10....
