Kojima: Metal Gear Solid: Rising will ‘create new users’

Mad genius Hideo Kojima has been using his Twitter account to do what he does best — babble incomprehensibly about things and making the rest of us scratch our heads. TheMetal Gear Solidcreator has remarked upon a game we know next to nothing about,Metal Gear Solid: Rising, though what he says is typically vague and silly. “The nextMGS…RISING,” begins the director. “This game will create new users, be developed by the new generation, a new MGS, but on the other hand, [Peace Walker] is made by Hideo Kojima, a new but classicalMGS....

Make room on your shelf for Battle Kid, a new NES game

Confession time: I spent my holiday weekend playingFinal Fantasy II. So I understand if, even in this age of bump mapping, lens flares, and bloom lighting, you feel the need to play games lacking in polygons (or level design that values rote memorization more than critical thinking — I’m looking at you,Mega Man!). To that end, let me introduce you to Sivak Games’Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, the newest addition to the Nintendo Entertainment System’s already-formidable library....

Mame Goma DS; So cute, you’ll vomit blood

Wired’sGame|Lifedrew my attention to the above trailer half an hour ago, and since watching it, I can’t stop smiling, handing money to orphans and singing John Lennon’sImagine. The game itself appears to be some kind of seal/amorphous blob raising sim, covered in a glossy sheen of sheeradorable. Between the ability to dress your tiny aquatic friend in wigs or anachronistic finery and staring into its beady eyes as you coo sweet promises of a life free from e-clubbings, I think it’s safe to assume that this sort of thing is expressly designed to moisten the underoos of Japanese teenage girls (and a few ofmyfemalefriends)....

Man versus Troll: the proper way to pump an MMO

Another free-to-play MMO is set to drop. Earlier this week, Perfect World Entertainment (the publisher for the PC version ofTorchlight) announced that the Eastern-influenced MMO,Forsaken World, would indeed hit North American shores. As for what the MMO actually is about, though, we’re confused: the trailer makes us think it’s a “stern look simulator” or some sort of “man-versus-troll” 3D brawler. Regardless, this is a thing that might tickle you if you’re tired ofWorld of WarcraftorSilkroad Online....

New high-res version of MGS 4 trailer is up

Listen to the mechanical cows and bullets whizzing by and soak it all in, because this Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer kicks ass in so many ways, it’s almost indescribable. While you may have seen bits of the low-res version before, this new one is definitely worth checking out for a second, better look — especially since it’s longer and has some Snake in it.But, the lingering question still remains: Is this how the actual gameplay is going to work?...

Nintendo fixes Metroid: Other M glitch via postal service

There is, apparently, a game-breaking glitch inMetroid: Other Mwhich is preventing some players from progressing in the game. Collecting the ice beam, progressing to the next room, killing the enemies there to open a new door and then turning back and re-entering the ice beam chamber causes the path forward to be closed forever, which has to suck. The problem is easily avoided by simply progressing one room further but, if you unwittingly fell into this devious trap, fear not....

The rumor thatSilent Hillwould bedelving into multiplayerhas been shot down bySilent Hill: Downpourproducer Devin Shatsky. Writing in to Hell Descent, he says that the original comments were either taken “completely out of context” or were perhaps “lost in translation.” Continuing, Shatsky explains “We were (many moons ago) investigating a separate multiplayer mode, but that was quickly extinguished when we costed it out and determined how much resource time it would detract from the core single-player experience....
