To all of those who have been waiting with bated breath, I apologize for the tardiness of this post. This is the second week in a row in which I did not receive in my inbox the “Wii-kly update” PR from Nintendo. I don’t know what I did to anger the Ninten-gods, but I’d do anything to get back into their good graces, even do something as crazy as play a full game ofMario Party 8....

Nintendo must have heardmy cries last week, when I whined about receiving the “Wii-kly Update” e-mails late, or not even getting them at all. I woke up this morning to an e-mail that was sent at 8:01 a.m., which was 19 minutes before I got out of bed, and almost two hours before I even stepped foot into the Dtoid offices. I can’t win with these guys. But Wii owners can win this week with a solid selection of titles hitting the Wii Shop Channel today....

Apparently the latest in this list is videogames, according to a study found over atHealthDay News. Today, Harmonix and PDP (the guys behind theXbox 360 motion controller) announced the retail release of a new kick pedal forRock Bandthat comes packaged with a double bass adaptor for two-pedal play. And get this: it’s compatible withGuitar Hero: Metallica. The suggested price of the two-piece set, “The Rock Band Kick Pedal With Double Bass Adaptor,” is $24.99. What better engine than Unreal Engine 3 to power the upcomingSin Citygame? Hell, what better engine than Unreal Engine 3 to power every next-generation game coming to the market, right? The game’s publisher, Red Mile Entertainment, announced today that it has chosen Epic’s engine for the Union Entertainment produced title. Flint Dille (with help from Frank Miller, creator of theSin Citygraphic novels) will oversee the game’s design, scriptwriting, and story generation....

Following news of an imminent3DS price cut, sales of brand new systems understandably halved in Japan, with consumers waiting for the cheap alternative. Conversely, the sales of used systems have since doubled. Secondhand retailers immediately started to slash their prices by around ¥4,000 following Nintendo’s announcement, which has drawn quite a few customers. It’s also believed that many consumers are willing to buy used in order to qualify for the “3DS Ambassador” program, which will net them ten “free” NES games and ten “free” Game Boy Advance games....

A new contender found in the upcomingPunch-Out!!for the Wiihas been revealed, and his name is Piston Hondo. We have to wonder — is Piston Hondo related in any way to Piston Honda, well-known Japanese boxer of Mike Tyson’sPunch-Out!!fame? Well, both are from Tokyo, Japan. Both weigh 174 pounds, and while we don’t know the height of Piston Honda, we can assume he was in the 6’2″ range. Despite the fact that Nintendo says Hondo was last seen inPunch-Out!...
