Metroid II on Japanese 3DS store tomorrow, kind of want

It’s been a considerable time since I playedMetroid II: Return of Samus. It was my favoriteMetroidgame growing up, not least of which because it was the only one I owned as a child and my copy was lost somewhere in one of my many apartment moves over the years. Maybe I’ll be able to reacquire it soon, as the title will hit the Japanese 3DS store tomorrow, leading one to suspect a North American release can’t be far behind....

New Army game says US = Godmode

The US military has along historyof creating games as both training tools and propaganda, but sometimes they aren’t entirely accurate. A new game from the US Army calledFuture Force Company Commander(worst titleEVAR), depicts a near future version of US forces as unstoppable killing machines on par withDOOM‘s IDDT-code-addled space marines. Wired is runningan interviewwith one of the CEO’s of Zombie, the developers behind the game, and he states pretty plainly that the military head brass wouldn’t allow them to program in actual deficiencies in the US forces....

New Darksiders: Wrath of War screenshots and artwork

As you might have been able to tell from an earlier post, I am very excited forDarksiders: Wrath of War. A big, brutal action game centering around one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, it’s the kind of game I live for. The art direction is one of the most appealing factors, and this range of concept art does little to hamper my interest. The urban/Gothic creatures and settings are looking slick, while the screenshots aren’t too shabby either....

New Silent Hill: Rubbish Pyramid Head confirmed (also, November release)

Some new information has surfaced on the Western-developedSilent Hill: Homecoming.Chief among them for me is the grim confirmation that Pyramid Head is indeed being recycled and crammed in to this new installment, something I was trying to pretend wasn’t real. As if that wasn’t lame enough, the fact that he’s the musclebound skirt-wearing version as seen in theSilent Hillmovie, and not the creepy smock-adorned version fromSilent Hill 2, suggests even more to me that this game will be a cheap disappointment crammed full of homages to the film more than anything else....
