No, I don’t have any sincere expectations forCabela’s Survival: Shadows of Katmai, but I do have a minor obsession with the game after seeingits box art. These new screenshots and trailer are more or less in line with what you wouldexpect this to be: a hint of survival, some fairly realistic action … all of nature’s Alaskan branch hell bent on killing the protagonist — you know, the usual.Shadows of Katmaidoes make use of the Top Shot Elite gun peripheral, after all....

So I’ve been sitting here with headphones on,this creepy countdown Web siteplaying noises in my web browser, and it’s making me uncomfortable. So I’d like to thank the countless readers for sending it in to us and completely ruining my morning. But what is it a countdown to, exactly? Hosted on Sony’s Japanese PlayStation site, we can safely assume it’s related to a videogame. The grainy, blood-red background is set to the sound of falling rain, with English-speaking voices whispering profanities and girls and boys screaming in the background....

So, here’s one of the first Wii commercials that will soon be gracing the U.S. and Canada (if it isn’t already). It actually looks pretty cool. Get that launch on, Nintendo. After 30 years, Namco Bandai is ready to unveil “the next evolution” of Pac-Man. The publisher sent out an invite for an E3 event in which it will show off, for the first time, the nextPac-Mangame. The title will be introduced by former Marvel CEO Avi Arad, who is now executive advisor for Namco Bandai. What’s the next step in Pac-Man’s evolution? Well, he’s gotten a mate, had a baby, grew legs, learned to jump, teamed up with other Pac-Men… I’ve got nothing....

YEAH! Waste money on digital clothing! AWESOME! The “Super Classic Pack” is now out on for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions ofSuper Street Fighter IVwhich contains new outfits for Dhalsim, Guile, Blanka, Fei Long and Gen. Blanka with a gi on looks pretty cool and Guile looks like he belongs in aResident Evilgame. The best of the bunch is Fei Long’s for the Kato outfit.

Watching theMax Paynemovie is a lot like pulling teeth for anyone familiar with the game. Today, 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller joined the chorus critical of the movie. Miller is a bit more of a prolific voice in the matter, considering he produced theMax Paynegames. In an interview withEdge, Miller said that were “several fundamental story flaws” that had him “shaking [his] head in bewilderment.” Miller had more to say about the manner in which the writers of the movie steered away from the videogame’s storyline, namely Payne’s motivation for killing people....

It turns out that nobody knows anything about 3D. Research firm Interpret’s findings from an online survey on 3D tech shows exactly that, and it also shows that not many are interested in going past the second dimension for games and movies. One of the most surprising figures from the survey relates to gamers: It turns out that 63 percent of console owners think that only a firmware update is needed to enable 3D in their homes, like a magic switch or something....
