Interview with Hisaharu Tago on SoulCalibur V

I think it is pretty fair to say that the large majority of those attending theLevel Upevent had put money onSoulCalibur Vfinally being announced and they weren’t disappointed. The latest installment will be set 17 years after the previous game, will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a currently vague release date of 2012. I took some time to interview producer Hisaharu Togo despite the entireSoulCalibur Vcrew remaining very tight lipped on details....

Bethesda, you sure know how to pick ’em. You dish out three screenshots for yourFallout 3downloadable content at a time, but you always manage to make each one really count. Take these images forThe Pitt(800 Microsoft Points — Xbox 360 and PC), for instance. Lucidity update to add checkpoints

A much-needed patch is coming toLucidityPC and Xbox LIVE Arcade in the near future. According to the latestLucas Arts Workshop blog post, theLucidityteam is dropping a checkpoint system into the downloadable title, thus allowing the players to continue from somewhere better thanthe beginning of the f’ing level. The update launches for the PC version this afternoon, while the XBLA patch is said to launching in “the coming weeks.” Neat. I, like others apparently, considered the lack of checkpoint system a bummer, but I considered the lottery-style item selection the even bigger bummer in the beautiful downloadable package....

Ludum Dare 18, which is wherethat video of NotchcreatingMetagunstems from, is finally over. 213 total games about “enemies as weapons” were entered into this fast-paced, start-from-almost-scratch indie design competition. For those who can get over the sometimes placeholder-y elements of these titles, there’s a lot of creativity to be found. TakeFail-Deadly, for instance. It’s like a real-time strategy game stuck on autopilot. You continuously place buildings for each team in an effort to prevent either one from emerging the victor....

MadWorld cosplay gets to the point

Action packed gameplay, a unique art style and an old school arcade feel couldn’t makeMadWorldsell well on the Wii outside of Japan (unless you consider mature games on the Wii niche titles, which wouldn’t be too far off base), so it seems developer Platinum games is falling back on the tried and true marketing ploy of sex. At a recent press-only event in Japan, Konan, a Japanese model, came out dressed as one of the female characters fromMadWorld....
