Playing With Yourself: Travel, Game Boy, and you

[Editor’s note: megaStryke tells us the best way to play with ourselves when on a long trip for hisMonthly Musing piece. — CTZ] Why haven’t you packed your things yet? You are leaving in half an hour! Okay, it’s actually more like two hours because your mom never seems to be ready on time despite her hounding on the rest of family the night before. The cooler is packed in the back seat, all the luggage minus her toiletries bag is stowed away, and the gas tank is fit to burst, but somehow we aren’t going to leave at the designated time and it iseverybody else’s faultbut her own....

Podtoid 134, or something, records tonight

Brad and Jim’s reign of terror is at an end — I’ve got hosting duties back for this week’s Podtoid. Granted, Jim will be gone for some stupid reason, butwhatever, man. We don’tneedhim. We do, however, need listener questions. We’re pretty low on news discussion, and I don’t really like doing one-topic shows without a full cast. As always, then, we rely onyou. The faithful listeners. Hit the button below and start asking stuff....

Podtoid 47 – Laffs!

This week’s episode wassupposedto be about news stories, but it mutated into something much less informative and (I hope) infinitely more entertaining. There’s still a lot of news in there, of course, but it’s interspersed with weirdly personal moments like Aaron’sserious hatred for people who get angry at reviews (Anger!) Tiff’sanimatronic-filled nightmares (Suspense!) Anthony’stales of a drunken, elastic-faced Linde (Terror!) and Jim’sintentions with a certain First Lady of Donkey Kong (Sperm!...

PS3 development of Red Faction didn’t go so smoothly

At its core,Red Faction: Guerillais a physics game wrapped around shooter mechanics. Crippling the environment and creating massive explosions are essential parts of theRed Factionexperience, and obviously Volition would love to have everything running smoothly. This wasn’t the case for the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Apparently, the PS3 version was lagging so far behind the Xbox 360 version that Volition had to call Sony in for some help....

PSN version of Trine hitting October 22nd

The playful speculation that the North American version ofTrinewould hit Xbox LIVE Arcade before it made it’s way to PlayStation Network is over. This afternoon, developer Frozenbyte and publisher Nobilis Publisher announced that the bite-sized platformer hits PSN on October 22nd. Trinewas supposed to be released in July this year. Last month, Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvarian pegged the reason for the gargantuan delay on physics, bugs, and “unlimited gameplay possibilities.” It apparently wasn’t an easy game to test....

PSP is Japan’s top-selling console for 2010

The year-end report by ASCII lays it all out, and it’s exactly as we expected. The PSP and DS sold like hotcakes. Or rice cakes. The PSP was the only system to show sales growth over 2009 numbers, pushing out some 60,000 units over last year, to 2,729,718 units sold in 2010. That just barely edges out the DS with its 2,719,544 units. I’vew always wondered how a PSP hater would fare in Tokyo for a week....

Raven’s Cry looks like a proper pirate action game

TopWare showed a rough version of a live-action teaser trailer forRaven’s Cryat gamescom this week and I got the chance to learn a bit more about the game. Rather than being yet another pirate-themed role-playing game or strategy game with a pirate ship,Raven’s Cryis a third-person action revenge-’em-up. You play as Christopher Raven who, as a boy, lost his family and his left hand to a pirate attack on the way to the New World....

So, uh, listen to any good podcasts over the weekend? If the answer to that is yes, and it better be, then know now that this new episode of RFGO! is 99.9% Metroid free. You’re welcome. I don’t know if you follow UK show The Gadget Show, but show personality Jason Bradbury is someone who could know some inside information. If you believe that, then this rumor will have some weight. As with all rumors these days, this one comes from Twitter: another thing I was meaning to say. Sept for Playstation Move!!! I’m sure of it. Can’t say why. Just..
