Wii has the most original IP, if you can call 20,000 minigames original

In what could bea job for Captain Obvious, a new Screen Digest report reveals that the Wii has more original IP than its competitors. According to the report, 40 games based on original IP are headed our way in the third quarter and of that number, over half will be Wii games. The report theorizes that low development costs, motion-controls and the target audience are all factors for this slew of original content....

Each new Fable brings fresh ideas and new mechanics to the table.Fable IIIis no exception — but one in particularmight just get you “super pissed.” During the presentation for the upcoming title at Microsoft’s media-only X10 event, the Lionhead boss revealed that it won’t have a health bar, or indicators like flashes, darkening of the screen, or crimson blood spatters. A strange move considering that combat still appears to be a main point of interaction....

Long time readers will know of the tremendous support we’ve given ACE Team’sZeno Clashover the past year. ZOMG! First Thief 4 screenshot allegedly spotted!

There is no story more desperate and grasping than the, “Oh my God, a bit of a screenshot spotted over somebody’s shoulder,” but that’s the story we have. This is possibly the first bit of gameplay imagery anybody’s ever seen ofThief 4, however, so it’s kind of a big deal. There’s so little to go on that it’s almoststaggering. We’re expected to find out more from Eidos next week, but until then, feel free to revel in rudderless speculation....

2010: The year the Wii stops gathering dust

I’ll be the first to admit that I have, in the past, been one of those “hardcore” fans who had displayed nothing but cynicism toward the Wii. Nintendo of America’s insistence on pissing off the “core” demographic and the endless cavalcade of shovelware and PS2 ports didn’t inspire or enthuse in the way such a plucky little system should have done. Fact of the matter is, I didn’t like what the Wii appeared to stand for, and I sure as Hell didn’t like 90% of the system’s so-called “game” library....

You know what I want? A downloadable mission where you have to kill “The Fonz” from Happy Days....

Achievements and wolves should hit Minecraft this week

There’s the old saying that wheneverDeus Exis mentioned, someone, somewhere, reinstalls their copy of the game. For me, it’s the same thing, but withMinecraft. Something for everyone, even if you aren’t particularly down with achievements as a whole....

Activision wins rights to modernwarfare3.com… finally

Back in July, the domainModernwarfare3.com surfacedand, funnily enough, it led users to theBattlefield 3official site. It was discovered that a fan (not EA) had purchased the domain and thought it funny to baitCall of Dutyfans for some laughs. Then there was the legal drama: Activision accused the domain’s owner of having no rights to the domain as well as using it in bad faith, both valid complaints. Nearly two months later, a verdict has been reached naming Activision the owner of a shiny new domain name....
