ThePortalseries has been a huge success and loving fans have shown their own creative appreciation with tributes, likefan made videosorhand-held personality spheres. Now afully functional Rubik’s companion cubecan be added to the list of awesome fan-madePortalstuff. I am utterly amazed at the sheer number ofamazing thingsfans have come up with, it honestly blows my mind. And these aren’t obnoxious or lame, they’re really freaking cool. Even if thePortalgames weren’t some of my all-time favorite ever, I could appreciate how they have drawn the creativity out of people, and some of thesePortalfans are quite creative....

In case there was any doubt, at least part ofFar Cry 3will take place on a tropical island. This has been completely confirmed today by a set of screens coming out of gamescom that show off leaves, sand, and water. Yup… that’s a tropical island. Far Cry 3is set for a release in 2012, so prepare for malaria accordingly.

There’s an upcoming live-action web series set in the world of RPGDragon Age, and it stars internet personality Felicia Day ofThe Guild. Day, who also wrote the script of this six-episode project, will play an Elven assassin named Tallis. “Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor. She can’t accomplish her mission alone, so finding allies is tricky,” Day said of her character inDragon Age: Redemption....

In the spirit ofShaq-Fu,Beyoncé pretending to likeRhythm Heaven,and countless other videogame/mainstream media pairings, Square Enix and the NBA have announcedFinal Fantasy XIIIas a presenting partner of the 2010 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game (Partnership with World-Renowned Fantasy Videogame Includes Visibility Throughout the Game and at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by Adidas.) What does that mean, exactly? Well, there will be someFinal Fantasy XIIIcommercials during the game when it airs on ESPN on February 12th at 7pm EST, with someFinal Fantasy XIIIbanners and posters hanging around the court to match....

Edmund McMillen of Team Meat sent us some intriguing images this morning. They’re the very first screenshots released fromSuper Meat Boyshowing the Xbox Live Arcade exclusive level, “teh internets.” The image above, of course, is a reference to the classic platform gameBubble Bobble. The smiling face in the green orb (moon? planet?) looks like something I’ve seen on the internet, though I’d be hard pressed to find it on my own and have no idea what it means....

The other day, somebody told me that they were worriedL.A. Noire, after all the hype, would just be anotherGrand Theft Autowith different objectives. That was a while ago and I’m still struggling to think how that could be considered bad. If that’s the worst-case scenario, I’d sayL.A. Noire‘s chances are pretty damn good. I’m hoping, of course, that it’s much more than that and Team Bondi really makes my jaw drop, but I’ll take that worst-case situation if I have to....

Fresh out of Gamescom, these images focus a bit more on the game’s human element, but there are still some cool shots of Xenomorphs being badasses, so they’re worth checking out. Done right, this could be a really panic-inducing game, especially if the image of the Xenomorph dragging the Marine through the floor is something that can happen without warning and regularly enough to spook the living crap out of people....

With all the greatSoulCalibur IVcustom characters that have been popping up on the Internet (likemichiyoyoshiku‘s above), I’m really tempted to go out and buy the game now, rather than wait for a price drop. Should I? For those of you who do have the game though, tonight is your golden opportunity to venture intoSoulCalibur IV‘s online multiplayer. Beware of the button mashers! We spotted some nifty exclusive DLC at GameStop’s pre-order page forSonic Generations. Get this upcoming Sega game at GameStop and you’ll get their pack that includes the Casino Night pinball stage, a Super Sonic costume (Xbox 360 only?!), and a Sonic console theme. The Casino Night pinball stage is a minigame inspired by the stage of the same name fromSonic the Hedgehog 2. Remember that? That stage was considered ‘awesome graphics’ back in the day....

Awhile back, we learned that Terminal Reality’sGhostbusterswas left off of the Activision Blizzard release schedule. Immediately, we were able to confirm through Sierra that the game was still in production. Now, it appears that Gamestop has lost the hope that we all had for the title and are beginning to notify customers that theirGhostbusterspreorders are being canceled.
