Afteralready being revealedby way ofGame Informer, Sony has todayofficially announcedLittleBigPlanet 2. The game, developed once again by Media Molecule, will be out this year, given a release window of “Winter 2010” which should see it arrive just in time for the holidays. The game’s first official trailer has also been revealed, making this official confirmation even more official in all its officialism, which is officially an official word, officially. Looks good, and it would be incredibly gauche to bring up the fact that Media Moleculesaid this game wasn’t going to happen, so we’re not going to do that....

As promised, 2D Boy has set a date for the impending iPad release ofWorld of Goo. It’ll be making its App Store debut on Thursday, December 16. More or less everything that’s worth saying aboutthe game has been said at this point, but here goes anyway: More interesting to me was the video that accompanied this bit of news. Attached is yet another promotional video forIndie Game: The Movie, complete with footage ofWorld of Gooon iPad....

There’s something special aboutLucidity’sstyle. A combination of paper textures and brilliant colors, the visuals of the upcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC title pops and stimulates. In a recent e-mail interview with Destructoid, project lead David Nottingham revealed the influencers of the art direction, as well as pegged a few reasons as to why LucasArts decided to go with the unique look. “One of the attractions of working on smaller games, is the level of creative freedom it affords you, to experiment and take risks that you might otherwise not be able to on a big budget game,” Nottingham told Destructoid....

When I sat down with Ian Cummings, the creative director ofMadden NFL 11,at an EA Sports press event in New York City last week, I asked him about the focus of this year’s game. The first thing out of his mouth was the game’s tagline: “Simpler. Quicker. Deeper.” Cummings explained that the development team at EA Tiburon pulled data from all the games ofMadden NFL 10that users played, and discovered some “alarming” statistics: namely, that the average game took more than 60 minutes to complete....

TheNational Institute on Media and the Familyhas just released the2007 Video Game Report Card(pdf file), which rates the games industry on everything they’re not going to listen to. It covers everything from how parents don’t understand ESRB ratings to how kids are successfully purchasing M-rated games 50 percent of the time, but we were more interested in their lists of “games to avoid for your children and teens,” as well as their recommended ones....

As I sit here prepared to finally play my PlayStation 3, Microsoft has sent over the official two other ways people can hop into theHalo 3beta in the spring. One, we already knew. TheCrackdownthing. The second, I don’t think any of us knew about. I could be wrong, but this is the first I’ve heard about it. And next month, that’s what it is getting courtesy of Uber Entertainment. The “Spunky Cola Special” add-on includes the Spunky Cola Arena for Crossfire, the Survivitol Arena for Blitz, and Super Sudden Death Blitz mode playable exclusively on the new Survivitol map. This is coming in November, and will also include new options for private matches and other goodies....
