On thegame’s official site, Activision has confirmed a September 1 release date for the upcomingGuitar Hero 5. For those keeping track, that’s eight days before that other music game,The Beatles Rock Band, is scheduled to hit shelves. Along with the release date, Activision is holding a contest, the winner of which will get five tickets per concert for five concerts of his or her choice. Winning involves answering a few questions, surfing the Internet, and (we presume) being really damned lucky, because millions of people will submit the same answers you do....

OK, I’ll be upfront, I prefer“bad” videogame actingto “good” videogame acting. The voice work in games likeShenmueand the originalResident Evilis endlessly entertaining to me, where the polished, Hollywood caliber stuff of theGTAgames just leaves me cold. It’s been quite some time since I’ve ventured into PC gaming territory, but adventure games of the fantasy variety have a way of tugging at my heartstrings. Throw in a jester on an epic journey to discover the meaning of life, asDaedelic Entertainmenthas done, and I’m pretty much sold — on the idea, at least. Man, these weekly Nintendo downloadable updates are a beast now that it’s thrown DSiWare into the mix! This weeks finds two DSiWare titles, one WiiWare title, and one Virtual Console game hitting the respective shops of the two platforms. Most fans in Europe who are eagerly awaitingSuper Smash Bros. Brawlhave most likely come to terms with the fact that it will be months after the US release before they can (legally) play it. Every year I get sick at PAX. It’s a combination of not sleeping, drinking too much, interacting with a bazillion people, and tons of unwashed mammals running into you in a confined space.
