Plug your old stuff into your new stuff

Playing games on the Classic Controller for the N64 on your Wii is fantastically wrong. If you’ve ever tried to play throughSin & Punishmentwith that thing you know there are some games that require the unique design of the N64 controller. Hell, Even though holding the Wii Remote sideways to playSuper Mario Bros.on your Wii is functional there’s just a certain je ne sais quoi missing from the affair. If only every Nintendo controller ever (barring the Virtual Boy) could hook up to the Wii....

PopCap Games teases gore-less ‘zombie apocalypse’ game

I have a confession to make: on a recent trip to the West Coast, I spent the entirety of my flight playing PopCap’sBejewled Twist. We’re talking somewhere in the vicinity of five hours. Oh, and then I also played it on my way home. Last night, I played the cooperative zombie survival ofLeft 4 Deadfor as many hours. Now, PopCap may have found a way to monopolize every second of my time....

Preview: Metro: Last Light

Metro: Last Lightis a direct sequel toMetro 2033, a game that developer 4A Games likes to refer to as a “flawed masterpiece.” The original game tended to be polarizing: people either raved about it, or couldn’t get past its glaring faults. The sequel looks to keep everything that fans loved aboutMetro 2033and also improve on some of the well known complaints. 4A Games told us what they’re doing to make the experience better, and showed us an action-focused sequence from the upcoming post-apocalyptic survival shooter....

Preview: Resistance: Retribution’s multiplayer

Last week, Samit Sarkar brought you adetailed preview ofResistance: Retribution’ssingle-player campaign for the PlayStation Portable. Earlier this week, Sony invited me out to a fancy bar in San Francisco to try out the mulitplayer mode ofRetribution. It’s really hard to get a first-person shooter or any kind of a shooter to work right on the PSP or DS. It’s just way more fun to play these types of games with a controller....

PSP-3000 bundle is a go: fire at will, fire at will

It seems like just yesterdaythat we were telling you about the PSP-3000, Sony’s latest upgrade to their PlayStation Portable. Its built-in microphone and shiny new brighter anti-glare screen don’t sound that sexy on paper, butseeing them in persongets you kind of hot. After eyeballing them on the TGS show floor, I really wanted one. A few days later, I was shopping in one of Japan’s mega-electronics stores, and I came across a huge display of PSP-3000 boxes....

Resistance 3 demo to be a PlayStation Plus exclusive

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t demos used to exist for the purpose of helping consumers make purchasing decisions? When did they become, instead, these things that publishers could hold to ransom in order to make people who already decided to buy the game jump through hoops and spend more money? Seems to undermine exactly what a demo is supposed to be, but then, that’s why I’m not in marketing....
