A former Zynga employee has spilled the beans on boss Mark Pincus, alleging that he encourages the theft of ideas and going so far as to call the FarmVille developer evil. The ex-worker claims that Pincus said these exact words when talking about game development: “I don’t f*cking want innovation. You’re not smarter than your competitor. Just copy what they do and do it until you get their numbers.” He also states that the company’s unofficial motto was “Be evil,” which is a play on Google’s “Don’t be evil” corporate message....
Square Enix’s newest trademark, filed May 2nd, is named “The Last Hope.” But what is it? I don’t think we’ve heard that name before. Siliconerahas a guess, though I don’t know if see eye-to-eye with Spencer on this one. They think it may be the name for a localizedNanashi no Game(Nameless Game),a horror DS title about a cursed RPG. It would be great to see an English-language version of this title, but the names don’t seen to match up....
An interesting new study by The NPD Group suggests that a significant number of gamersrely on word of mouthto obtain game information and make purchasing decisions, with 41% of those surveyed learning about gaming from acquaintances as opposed to marketing and magazines. In fact, as little as 5% of the survey takers stated that advertising had any effect on them whatsoever. After word of mouth, hands-on playtime at the homes of friends and family were noted as the second biggest influence on modern gamers....

I do so love trawling Amazon for good deals, and this is a pretty enticing one. While Jim might not have enjoyedAssassin’s Creed II, I certainly did. I loved all of The Truth puzzles, as they’re the sort of thing we almost never see in games, let alone a big-budget, AAA title that’s intended to have mass appeal. Not to mention the significantly improved mission variety. At half the price, I feel confident in recommending that you pick it up....
I’ve made no secret of my burning lust forBayonetta, especially since playing it and acquiring a massive erection at E3. Seriously, I almost tipped the entire Sega booth over with my tumescence. Dubbed the “official games magazine of Best Buy”,@Gameris to be helmed by reputed writer Andy Eddy and published by Future US. @Gameris due to launch in the last week of June. So far, actual content and style has not been revealed, although I’m sure the combination of late news and sneaky exclusives that allow magazines to compete with the Internet shall appear in full force....
