Monster Hunter gets all up in Lost Planet 2

Look whose coming to shoot things with a really big gun inLost Planet 2. It’s a set of Rathalos Armor from theMonster Hunterseries and Frank West fromDead Rising. Oh, Capcom you are all about theexciting crossoversandcameos. At this rateLP 2could have more guest stars than one of yourvs.games, and I don’t think many people would have a problem with that. Now everyone in the West who is squealing with delight — stop that....

Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick brings 90s arcades home

If you remember the 90s, you likely remember spending arcades. Or at least the murky corners of pizza shops and mom-and-pop video stores masquerading as such. Maybe I’m dating myself, but I remember those times fondly. Many of my middle school and early high school days were spent haunting my local video store, Video Fantasy, in Great Neck, New York. It was there I playedMortal Kombatfor the first time. In hindsight, it wasn’t a great game, and maybe even calling it a “good” game would be pushing it....

Natal + PS3 wand = crappy third party plastic crap

Youknow it’s coming. Natal is little more than a concept to most people, yet that hasn’t stopped the parasitic third party plastic garbage makers from dreaming up peripheral nonsense for both it and Sony’s motion control wand. “One of the biggest challenges for peripherals firms is keeping up with changing technology, particularly the trend toward interactive gaming started by Nintendo and now embraced by Microsoft’s Project Natal,” says DreamGEAR COO Richard Weston....

Natal is so 2009: Microsoft patents new motion tech

Are you still using gyroscopic things and cameras for your motion controls? Get out of last year, man. It’s 2010, get with the frickin’ times. Microsoft is already in the now as is proven by the fact that Microsoft Research haspatented an EMG technologythat will sense a person’s hand motions down to the smallest of gestures. The video above explains it all, but basically you put little things on your arm and they pick up your muscle movements in you hand and translate them to whatever you’re trying to control....

New DS math title release date announced, editor sees the light

It takes real panache for a person to humble themselves and admit that, perhaps, they are wrong. I stand before you a man so humbled. You see, I have operated under the assumption (the incorrect assumption, mind you) that the library of DS games available left something to be desired for some time now. I hadn’t even picked up my own DS in months, sneering at it’s obsidian sleekness as it collected dust, letting out an occasional haughty laugh as I let my sense of superiority (again, incorrectly assumed) get the better of me....

Nintendo DLC: BlayzBloo, Petz Dogz Family, Deer Captor

No Virtual Console releases this week, but it’s all good. Instead, we have an excellent assortment of oddly titled games with even odder premises. Extra points toBlayzBloo: Super Melee Brawlers Battle Royalefor having the best name this side ofZ.H.PUnlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. WiiWare DSiWare I like howPetz Dogz Family, which can only be described as a gameheavilyinspired byNintendogs, is the most expensive one. Really, I do.

Original Xbox Live support getting discontinued in April

On April 15, there will be no more original Xbox Live support. This affects both the original console, games and Xbox Originals that have Live features. Major Nelson doesn’t go into the exact detail on the reasoning behind the change, but does at least say that this will allow for the Live service to evolve and change for the better. Seeing as how the main reason the friends list is capped at 100 because ofHalo 2, it’s easy to put two-and-two together here and see what one of the new features will be for Xbox Live....
