Ubisoft has announced today that it has launched itsFar Cry 2space in PlayStation Home’s closed beta in both North America and Europe. The space features details on the game, including information on the story and background details on the game’s non-playable characters. The interactive space also includes a multiplayer game called “Mancala,” which uses bullets as game pieces;Far Cry 2can also be launched directly from Home. This announcement is somewhat of a tease, as Home is closed beta right now....
A survey asking for opinions on multiplayer maps as well as whether or notModern Warfare 2players intentionally strive to unlock new callsigns and emblems was sent out by Ubisoft. Like most surveys even vaguely related to videogames, there was a story to be found in the types of questions being asked. This is purely speculative, but considering how the survey wasposted on the Twitterfeed of Ubisoft senior community developer Kimi Matsuzaki — and how her page is plastered withGhost Recon: Future Soldierart — this survey will probably play some role in the development of that game....

This is justmore proof thatAtari seems to be leaving the retail market in favor of the digital market. As forHeroes Over Europe, Iactually previewedthe game last December. It was an enjoyable experience and the 16-player dog fights look like they’ll be a blast....
After only one week atop the UK Chart,Halo: Reachhas been shunted into second place byF1 2010, proving that Britain’s love for sport of any description displaces what Microsoft has erroneously called the “biggest” shooter of the year. Dead Rising 2has also debuted in a respectable third place, with Europeans getting the game before those of us in North America.Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rockhas made an uncharacteristic debut in sixth place, although what it lacks in top-five placement it’ll surely make up in longevity....
Who’s ready for PAX Prime, baby!? Yea, you are. Well, get even readier because they’ve just let out officially that Warren Spector is confirmed as the keynote speaker. He’s going to talk about things and other stuff… probably videogames. Hell, he could come out and sing theMickey Mouse Clubtheme song and then playEpic Mickeyfor 30 minutes and I’d be satisfied. For those attending the greatness that is PAX, Spector will be speaking in the main theater on September 3 to kick off the show....
Say what you will about PlayStation Home, but I think it’s alright. It’snot quite worth spending much time in, butstuffdoeshappenin there. Popping in every so often to see new gamespaces and watch the occasionaltraileris just fine, especially if it leads to game-themed junk to clutter up a Home apartment-thing with. The biggest problem I have with it is its bland, lifeless character modeling. Wii Miis and Xbox LIVE avatars took the right step and went for cartoony expressiveness, but Home avatars fell straight into the uncanny valley....
I like the fact that fake Pokemon exist. There is something inherently funny about multiple people in the world spending time, energy, and sometimes money to fulfill their dreams of temporarily tricking the citizens of the internet in to believing that their “awesome idea for a Sudowoodo evolution” is the real deal. It’s like telling a woman that you have a 12 inch penis in order to convince her that you are totally wonderful at the act of love making, only to eventually drop your drawers to show her that your penis is actually quite small....
Silicon Knights have released a behind-the-scenes video ofX-Men: Destinywith interview segments featuring Stan Lee.X-Men: Destinywill be the developer’s first released game sinceToo Humanback in 2008. It also shows off a fair amount of mutant brawling along with some slightly unconvincing character models. The talking heads featured however seem pretty confident with the direction they’re taking the game in. Stan Lee doesn’t feature too heavily but his answers are refreshingly low-key and honest....
Following the round of price drops in Japan, Microsoft hasfinally announcedthat Xbox 360 units in the United States are having their costs slashed in kind. Starting September 5, the Xbox 360 will have the cheapest current-gen SKU on the home console market with the Arcade model hitting $199. That’ll make Microsoft’s bare-bones 360 $50 cheaper than the Wii. It’s official: We’ve got an Xbox 360 price cut coming to the US....
Here’s a new gameplay video of upcoming PSP titleYs: The Oath in Felghana, which you’ll better know as its original release,Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, first offered in 1989. Nihon Falcom redid the game for PC and now PSP, and the update looks all “Metroidvania,” which is totally fine by me. This version has new graphics, an updated story and rockin’ music. From what I understand the score is almost completely live instrumentation....
No, that not the “hint” above. That would be a full on reveal. The hint comes from the latest issue of Arcadia magazine, a Japanese publication focused on the modern day arcade scene. “Arcade scene.” Sigh. The scan shows the silhouette of a skateboard and a pair of roller blades set beside some text teasing future characters ofSuper Street Fighter 4Arcade. That’s a pretty big hint. Unless Capcom is planning to reveal two all newStreer Fightercharacters that utilize these pedestrian forms of travel, then it’s got to be Yun and Yang....
