Rumor: PSN hacked, credit card security exposed (Update)

[Update:Ars has updated its article with more details, determining that the risks would mostly affect custom Firmware that has already circumvented Sony’s security measures. Really, who cares about those guys? There is still potential for a wily hacker to pull a lot of information from a PSN account, but no greater risk than anywhere else. While Sony’s system is still flawed, it’s not half as scary as it first sounded. Phew!...

Sega Rally demo deforms Xbox Live

A demo for Sega’s upcoming racer,Sega Rally, is now available on Xbox Live. The single-player demo weighs in at about 692 MB, which is five MB heavier than my favorite WWF wrestler of old, Earthquake. The demo features two tracks, set in the game’s Canyon and Tropical environments. The Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ3 and the Subaru Impreza STi Spec C type RA are selectable, but there’s no explanation given as to why in the hell we can’t just call things “cars” anymore....

Smackdown vs. Raw vid: Big men in motion capture suits

It’s been a long, long time since I’ve watched professional wrestling. Because of this I have no idea who M.V.P. is or what he does, but I assume that he is a pretty big star in the WWE because they chose him to do this video explaining motion capture for the upcomingSmackdown vs. Raw 2011. Anyone in this day and age who still needs mo-cap explained to them probably doesn’t own a gaming system, but I still find the technology pretty awesome and the effect it has had on sports games is beyond noticeable....

Sony ‘sorry’ if you own all the ‘Welcome Back’ PSN games

Yesterday, Sony detailed thecontents of its “Welcome Back” package, offering a variety of free games to consumers to make up for the PlayStation Network downtime. Sony was actually pretty decent about offering a solid mix of retail games and downloads, but inevitably, people weren’t pleased. Some gamers have been angry about the fact that the offered games weren’t brand new (seriously? Who expected that?) and Sony has addressed the criticism, apologizing to those who own everything, but standing by its decision....
