WET developer A2M might do more original IP

Fresh off B-movie videogameWET, developer A2M might take another swing at developing an original IP. Speaking toVG247, WET creative director Patrick Fortier confirmed that studio was at least entertaining the idea, but he wasn’t definitive in his response. “That’s definitely something A2M is looking at,” said Fortier, “so yes, that’s certainly a possibility.” Another possibility is A2M working with Bethesda again. In the same conversation, Fortier said that Big B understands WET’s protagonist and, more importantly, is a swell developer to work with....

Whip it, whip it good: New Bionic Commando footage

Here’s some new footage fromBionic Commandoshowing the …Bionic Commandopicking up giant objects and whipping them into people’s faces. We also see thatBionic Commandois going the route of not having a health system, which I really like.R6: Vegas, Halo 3,Turokand a bunch of other games have been doing the same recently and I think it’s a great change of pace for action games. Sometimes, it’s a b*tch looking for and worrying about your healthcoughHalf-Life 2cough....

Wii/PS3 Demo Kiosk + PS3s Slogan in the states

About a week or so ago, the internets saw a couple of pics of what the Wii and PS3 demo kiosks were going to look like. This week, we see video of the pics in a Gamespot guide book. Also, we see that the North American slogan here in the states is going to be: “Play Beyond”. Much better than the“This is Living”crap that the PAL region is stuck with. [Via:Wii-UK]...

You CAN always get what you want: Mass Effect and wish fulfillment

Do we play videogames so we can live out our greatest fantasies in a secure virtual world achieving our every desire in an electronic , or so we can experience stories which surprise us, scare us, excite us, move us, and affect us in the same way other art forms do? If you’re at all familiar with other articles I’ve written, you’ve heard this question before — and you’re likely sick and tired of hearing my views on it....

‘Substantially more’ Wiis promised for holiday, soccer moms thrilled

Having worked retail during the launch of the Wii (and through the holiday), I understand the pain of the consumer. At launch, stores received a mere handful of Wii consoles, and even at this point, they continue to trickle in at a snail’s pace. Somehow, though, Nintendo has managed to outsell their competitors, moving some 403,600 units last month alone. Ouch. But if you still can’t find a Wii (and are totally over fighting for one at retail), there may be help coming this holiday....

A terrifying first look at FEAR 3’s ‘divergent co-op’

Let me first get one thing out of the way — Day One Studios’ upcoming first-person shooter is calledFEAR 3(orF.E.A.R. 3). No fancy “3” as an “E” business here; I’ve been assured that the “3” in the title is for logo and marketing purposes only. So by all means, get all of the “l33t speak” andFE4Rjokes out of the way before continuing. Second thing you should know is that this preview may very well be a spoiler for those who’ve yet to experience last year’sFEAR 2....

Aero Guitar comes to Japanese WiiWare, will see a US release later this year

In yet another example of Japan getting all the cool stuff first, a new WiiWare game has been announced from Yudo calledAero Guitar, in which you use the Wiimote as a virtual instrument. The formula is similar to button tapping rhythm games, which I have to struggle and practice tirelessly to be good at, but if a game is fun it’s worth the work to get there in my opinion....

Analysts: Xbox Live Arcade has not peaked

Following 2D Boy’s report that Xbox Live Arcadehas reached its peakand is on the downslide, a number of analysts have taken to the platform’s defense, stating unequivocally that XBLA still has plenty of mileage left. “In terms of digital games delivered through a home console, Microsoft will continue to be the market leaders,” said EEDAR’s sexy elven prince Jesse Divnich. “I am not disagreeing with Mr. Carmel, I believe some of his points are valid and any digital service provider has its own restrictions and hurdles....

Armageddon Riders looks like sick, stupid fun

Every time I think that I’m totally sick of zombies, something comes along which has them as a central element that manages to get me interested. LikeArmageddon Ridersup there. You know, it doesn’t even matter that the enemies are zombies or not (though I guess it might make a difference to a ratings board;Death Race, anyone?) because I just want to score points for running over objects in a competition with other players....

Baroque officially delayed until April 8th

You may recall me babbling all over the homepage back in January aboutBaroque, Atlus’s upcoming Wii/PS2 RPG. I actually wrote the release date on my calendar like a ten year old (I used to do the same when I was a kid for new NES games and I wrote them on my Nintendo Power calendar!) February 26th came and went and I realized I hadn’t heard a word about the game, so I had a feeling there might be a delay....
