Bonk makes fire in this Bonk: Brink of Extinction trailer

Hudson’s bringing our boy Bonk back next year, in a new title calledBonk: Brink of Extinction. While we can guess it’s a platformer, you wouldn’t be able to tell from this new trailer which shows absolutely no gameplay whatsoever. Instead, Bonk tries to start a fire to warm his hands before a meteor hits the Earth. That’s where the “extinction” comes in. Get it? Brink of Extinctionis slated to hit every console’s digital distribution platform of choice — Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360, PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3, and WiiWare for Wii....

Brand new Bionic Commando trailer shows off the multiplayer

Excuse me while I have a retro squee … SQEEEEEEE! That fact that Capcom is using the old school Capcom start up noise again is beyond amazing. As for the trailer itself, it’s pretty neat. It shows off your Bionic Commando’s abilities in the main game, such as the Zip Kick, where you grab an enemy and pull yourself in to them. About half way in, the trailer shows off bits of the multiplayer, which I talked about earlier today....

Capcom on Wii: total sales numbers of titles is surprising

With Nintendo’s Wii being the end-all best-selling anything and everything of all time (if you believe Nintendo), you’d expect to see mind-blowing sales numbers of Wii game titles. And if we’re talking aboutMario Kart Wiior that stupidWii Play, then sure, you’ll get those through-the-roof numbers. But how does Capcom fare? The lifetime sales numbers (via NPD) of these Capcom titles are surprising: First off, as far asResident Evil 4is concerned, that’s not bad for a game that has sold like gangbusters on two consoles before it....

Chaos Rings launches, other Square Enix Apps go on sale!

Square Enix’s promising iPhone RPG,Chaos Rings, has hit iTunes for the not inconsiderable price of $12.99. If you consider that price point a little too meaty, you might be pleased to know that the publisher other Apple-flavored offerings are on sale right now. To be honest, the slashed prices still seem a bit rich compared to what we’re used to on iTunes, but nevertheless, you may get such items asFinal Fantasyfor $6....

Chiptunes on a chip, just like mom used to make (before she was eaten by bears)

Chiptunes artistAlex Mauerhas stumbled upon the kind of synergistic, proactive scheme that marketing firms create terms like “synergistic” and “proactive” to describe. Mr. Mauer forgoes the standard MP3 or laser-etched media route with his latest album of bleeps and bloops, and has insteadopted to releaseVegavoxon high-fidelity plastic NES cartridges. you may purchase a copy ofVegavoxfromthis pagefor €22 (two hogs’ heads), or you can catch a preview clip of his musichere....

Cole Hamels: ‘Pussies’ use random MW2 grenades (Update)

For the New York Yankees’ sake, I sure hope Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels continues hissub-par playoff performancetomorrow night in Game 3 of the World Series. But as much as I want to see him crash and burn against the Yankees, I have to hand it to him — this public service announcement imploringCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players to avoid throwing grenades randomly is pretty damn funny (its NSFW language contributes to that)....

Comic the Jumper: the second art style revealed

Continuing its stream of reveals,The Mawcreator Twisted Pixel is now showing off the inspiration behind the second (of five) different comic book styles set to be in the game — and boy does it get our Greatsword hands all sweaty. If you peeked (you did, right?) you’ll notice that the style of the second set draws inspiration from 1970s comics, particularly in the painted art style of Frank Frazetta who did someamazingConan the Barbariancovers on top of many, many comic covers throughout the last few decades....

Dante tears sh*t up in this trailer

EA released a new gameplay trailer forDante’s Infernoand you can watch it by clicking the little play button above. They spend a fair bit of time focused on the ridable monsters bit, but we already saw this stuff in the demo. Other highlights include a badass, winged demon and an example of some sort of swinging section as Dante traverses a strange pathway made of statues. It looks pretty, I’ll give them that, and the action seems solid if a little sluggish for my tastes....

Dead Space Ignition releases next week for $5

The interactive comicDead Space Ignitionwill be joiningSonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1andPinball FX 2in hitting Xbox LIVE Arcade on October 13. Thank goodness EA and Visceral Games went with a five-dollar price point on this one, considering how “It has three hacking minigames!” isn’t exactly a strong selling point. That said, the minigames in question dosound pretty good, as far as hacking in videogames is concerned. One is reminiscent ofArt Style: Light Trax(awesome), another is tower defense, and the third is a puzzle involving the alignment of lasers....

Delay on Ghostbusters was to max out the creepy factor

We already know that Terminal Reality’sGhostbustershas beenpushed back to a June 2009 release, but originally the game was supposed to come out this Christmas. Why the delay? According to Terminal Reality’s Drew Haworth, the wait was all about maxing out the creep factor. He commented toCVGthat the move to Atari allowed them to work on the cutscenes and pacing, resulting in a focus on the “player experience”. This is cool to hear, don’t get me wrong — I’m always happy to hear that a company is pouring effort into a title — but the Ghostbusters films seem to be more successful because of their comedy elements....

When Criterion dropped theBurnout Paradisedemo on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network late last year, fans clamored for their first chance to try out the game’s open world. Destructoid Review: Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds

I believe it was famed golf legend Happy Gilmore that once said that “Golf requires goofy pants and a fat ass.” He’s right. Golf also requires skill, psychical ability, golf clubs and equipment, and outrageous fees to play. And you have to be outdoors! Oh, and let’s not forget that you’ll need a pair of those stupid looking shoes. The best part about videogame golf is that you can forego the fees, sunlight, and silly clothing — though you just may get that fat ass from sitting on your couch for too long....
