Star Ocean: The Last Hope has beenconfirmed for PS3, coming to Blu-ray after a year of Xbox 360 exclusivity. The latest in tri-Ace’s sci-fi RPG series will release in Japan on June 20, 2025. Also confirmed for PS3 isNier Replicant, a new version of Square Enix’s upcoming action game, which is PS3 exclusive. It’s possible that, as we theorized,Nier Gestaltwill be an alternate Xbox 360 version. The version ofStar Oceanreleased on PS3 will beStar Ocean: The Last Hope International....

It’s only been two weeks since Sony updated the PlayStation 3’s system software tov3.00— witha few hitches. Tonight, they threw up a surreptitious update under cover of darkness, bringing the console’s firmware to v3.01. The new update seems to have gone live shortly after midnight EDT on September 15th; it took me about 25 seconds to download and around four minutes to install. We don’t yet have any official word from Sony on what the v3....

A brief video is doing the rounds right now, showing an over-the-shoulder viewpoint inStreet Fighter IVon the 3DS. While it’s not up close and personal likeResident Evil 4, it’s nonetheless an interesting new perspective for the fighting game. Apparently, the over-the-shoulder camera is used when the game is played in 3D mode, which makes sense considering you’ll get a greater sense of depth that way. Whether or not it will affect gameplay, however, especially given the game’s list of complex combos, remains to be seen....

Here’s a newStreet Fighter IVtrailer, showing off Gouken as he beats the sh*t out of people for fun and profit. His beard is very white, as you will no doubt observe. In other news,Street Fighter IVhas been officially dated in the United States for Xbox 360 and PS3. Capcom’s chunky-thighed fighter will be available on consoles on June 11, 2025. Also, Capcom has officially apologized for unloading so much news over the past few weeks....

In the process of activating and restoring my new iPhone this afternoon, I noticed thatStreet Fighter IVwas downloading a rather large update. A couple minutes later, PR hit my inbox and I understood why. As of this afternoon, Zangief and Cammy have been added to the iPhoneStreet Fighteras free DLC. All their moves from the console games are intact (although I struggle doing Cammy’s Hooligan Throw and Geif’s Pile Driver with the touch controls), and their character models look just as good as the original iPhoneStreet Fightercast....

More Nintendo trivia for you. Did you know theSuper Mario Bros. theme has lyrics? Of course, the theme is apparently called “Go Go Mario” and is originally in Japanese but lucky for us the poster of the video above was kind enough to include both the Japanese and English lyrics. The video clip was taken from the “Mario and Zelda Big Band live” concert that was held on September 14th, 2003 at the Nihon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, Japan....

Here’s a whole bunch ofSonic Generations3DS screens for you to enjoy. you’re able to print them out and glue them to your cat, or mix them up with some spaghetti to make your aunt’s famous Sonicscreengetti. Your choice! The portable versions of Sonic games are nearly always consistent in their quality, so even if the console game doesn’t pan out so well, I’m looking forward to enjoying this one. It will probably be good....

Ever since Criterion Games introduced Autolog inNeed for Speed: Hot Pursuit, every EA studio seems to put their own spin on the lauded feature and it’s one of the best things EA has been doing with their games recently. We had the chance to talk to Karl Magnus Troedsson, Vice President at DICE, about the long awaitedBattlefield 3. DICE’s version of Autolog is called Battlelog. We talked about how they reshaped it to fit a tactical first-person shooter and how it brings you and your friends together to shoot each other in the face....

I’m not ashamed to say that I have zero idea what the hell is going on withResident Evil 5: Gold Edition. But I do know that Capcom announced a new playable character for the game’s “Mercenaries Reunion” thing this morning: Ms. Gionne. A bombshell type, the press release says she is indeed murderous as opposed to just cute and bouncy. I figured as much considering she’s being thrust into a special edition of a horror game that features zombies, viscera, and other assorted ridiculous, disgusting, or evil things....

It was only a matter of time, I suppose, before somebody picked up the US distribution rights for theTekkenmovie. Anchor Bay Films has announced that they’ll be shuffling discs of the film into retailers in 2011. It’s not a good film. I can’t even say for certain if it’s a mediocre film. Nick Chester was a fan of the fight scenes, which I can agree with. Meanwhile, the man in control of Tekken for Namco, Katsuhiro Harada, has advised fans of the games to skip it entirely — something I can also agree with....
