Spike TV honcho Geoff Keighleyhas revealedyet another world premiere for the Spike Video Game Awards — Ubisoft’sPrince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. We had previously reported thatPrince of Persiacreator Jordan Mechner hadtrademarked the title, along with a Ubisoft character modeler directly referencing work on a new game in the series. Our own sources had confirmed this title has been in development at Ubisoft Montreal, and would continue “The Sands of Time” trillogy in some manner....

Today’s a good day to be involved with the UK games industry. WithFronz’s reporton this year’s massive jump in retail revenue and now this, some serious momentum seems to be building right now. Following the inevitable government reshuffle caused byGordon Brown’srecent snatching away of the premiership from Tony Blair, Margaret Hodge, the new Minister for Creative Industries has pledged to give videogames some serious attention. TheNeed for Speedfranchise has hit an impressive 100 million copies sold, a feat EA says only four other videogame brands have managed to accomplish. The game to push the series over the mark was the recently releasedNFS: Shift, of course. To celebrate, EA has whipped up some lovely pictures to showcase a timeline of the games, plus a neat video that features a bunch of the series’ accomplishments to date. Easily the best thing to come out of this success is the impressive list of facts we received....
