Happy Holidays: Have a Dead Space 2 demo

After some not-so-subtle hints earlier this week, here’s the official announcement from EA. There’s aDead Space 2demo coming just in time for your holiday festivities! The demo goes on a worldwide launch on December 21st. It will “allow players to discover the Church of Unitology and help Isaac defeat the Necromorph outbreak in a gruesome, unforgiving battle on The Sprawl.” That doesn’t sound very festive, does it? in the demo you’ll get to play with some new tools like the Javelin gun....

Have more Rayman Origins

So far theRayman Originstrailershave been great and this one is no exception. Although there is no gameplay, it is funny, andRaymanis all about fun, so it works. Ubisoft also released more screenshots of the game, both HD console shots and handheld. I am excited for this game, it was fun when I played it back in the day, and this looks like it will continue that trend of good times.Rayman Originsis set to release this November....

I suck at games: so bring on undies and a knife!

[It’s time for anotherMonthly Musing— the monthly community blog theme that provides readers with a chance to get their articles and discussions printed on the frontpage. — CTZ] That’s right, undies and a knife! Why should that guy that has played FPS games forever and seems to have the time to play 24/7 be running around with better gear, better guns, better grenades and have the ability to call in dog attacks as a “special” bonus for killing me ten times without dying so he can laugh his ass off while I become dog meat once again?...

Idol Master SP first game to boast connectivity with PlayStation Home

I know, you don’t give a crap about PlayStation Home. Neither do I. Three hours in there on the first day it launched confirmed all my previous suspicions in one fell swoop: all that would happen is that guys would grab my virtual tits and I would be bored. Both those things confirmed, I returned to myPixelJunk Monstersand haven’t turned it on again since. However, there may still be some people enjoying Home, and it will further interest them to find out that theIdol Master SPfor PSP will offer the first connectivity between Home and a separate game....

inFamous can be conquered in roughly 25 hours

Theotheropen-world action game starring a genetic freak,inFamous, will take (roughly) twenty to twenty-five hours to completely finish. As in, do everything that there is to do in the game. Sucker Punch’s own Chris Zimmerman dropped this time nugget during aPlayStation.Blogfan Q&A session. “Well it depends on how you decide to play it; if you play just straight through as fast as you can, maybe 15 hours,” he said. “But in addition to the 35 story missions in the game we have 100 side-missions, [and] we have a whole bunch of collectibles you can pick up....

Juicy details on MonkeyPaw’s BurgerTime HD

MonkeyPaw games has been quite generous these past few months. They’ve brought us 14 import PlayStation games, many of which have been on our Do Want lists for quite awhile. The good news is that there’s more imports to come. For now they’re doing something a bit different. Something more meaty. They’re trying to evolve retro with this new release,BurgerTime HD. Surely you remember the burger stacking game play. That stays, but now they’ve added a Rotary Environmental System, allowing cylindrical 3D levels to rotate around a center axis and the player to build burgers around the circumference....

Karma’s a bitch: Jack Thompson has heart trouble

You know what karma is; it’s that concept by which if you live a good life, you’re reborn as a golden cow, and if you’re bad, you’re liable to spend your next incarnation trapped in the body of a hideous predatory mantis who gets his head eaten by lady mantises with frightening breasts. In other words, you reap what you sow, and now the elevated blood pressure that Jack Thompson causes all of us gamers with his ignorant mouth-frothings is giving him a big bushel of reciprocal come-uppance....

Let’s revisit Nintendo’s first 3D system, the Virtual Boy

When the Wii was first announced, the first thing I thought about was the Power Glove. That accessory failed so it made sense to me that the Wii wouldn’t take off. Needless to say, I was dead wrong. Now with the announcementof the 3DS, people are instantly thinking of Nintendo’s first attempt with 3D gaming, the Virtual Boy. The Virtual Boy was a even bigger failure than the Power Glove, but if the Wii has thought me anything, it’s that we shouldn’t doubt the potential of the 3DS....

Mad Catz paid $300K to miss out on Guitar Hero’s success

Oh, Mad Catz. Does your ignominy know no bounds? The accessory manufacturer, whose name has long been synonymous among gamers with inferior peripherals —sturdy FightSticksaside — recently admitted to a decision that looks rather silly in hindsight. Darren Richardson, the company’s president and CEO, toldKotakuthat Mad Catz could’ve been a part of theGuitar Herophenomenon from the start: it was set to make an Xbox version (or presumably, its guitar controller) of the original game, which launched exclusively on the PlayStation 2 in November 2005....
