Mario somehow packed on a few pounds for the Genesis version of Super Mario World. In this rare, illegal port, Mario also walks funny while he’s carrying…why is he carrying crates? Oh, and it looks like he’s modified his fire pellet throw. Now it’s closer to Ryu’s Hadouken. I could almost stand this, but Mario has a bit of a downs face, and the music is a bastardization of the original....
Mega Man turns twenty tonight at midnight, and to help build anticipation, Capcom has thrown up acountdown timeron the official Mega Man 20th Anniversary page. When I asked, United Front Games was quiet on when the beta for its upcomingModNation Racerswould begin. I had my suspicions it would begin before year’s end, and I was correct! When I visited United Front a few weeks back, I had a chance to check out what the beta will look like: a complete and total time sink. I say that in a good way — with at least two pre-made tracks, thousands of parts to create a character with, and the full-featured track editor, there should be plenty to explore before the game launches next year....
You know how it works. With the help of each other, try to figure out all of the disguised video game covers. They all share a common theme that, once solved, can help you figure out the harder ones. This week has a few easy puzzles and a few difficult ones, but it’s got a pretty odd theme, so it might take you slightly longer than usual to piece them all together....
Things I have never gotten into:Monster Hunter. Things I can respect: Awesome Lego contractions. Ergo, things I am not into, but can respect:Monster HunterLego constructions. These suckers were constructed in Japan and sent over toCapcom Unity. They seem to be completely movable and damn detailed for being made out of rectangular building blocks. Well, Legos aren’t just rectangles anymore, so I suppose it’s not as amazing. Damn kids with their fancy Lego shapes....
I loveTimesplitters 2. I meanreallylove it. In an almost scary way. If it were a girl I’d marry it, if it were a food I’d gorge on it until my stomach lining burst, and if it were a drug my veins, lungs and brain would now be naught but a sticky black goo, trickling out of my deliriously over-dosed body as it lay stinking in some alley on the wrong side of town....

New Super Mario Bros Wii is one of the finest games released in the past few years, I’d say. Brilliant game. It’s a perfect example of what happens when game makers get back to basics. Nintendo has had a few million sellers recently with the Wii, butNew Super Mario Bros Wii has hit the four million mark, making it a quadruple platinum seller in Japan. Enterbrain’s numbers show that as of Sunday the game has sold 4,001,276 copies....
