Having trouble playing on Xbox Live?

Apparently, there’s a somewhat widespread 360 outage that is knocking people out of games. A few at NeoGAF and some Major Nelson readers have reported issues. We tried it, and had the same result. We can sign in, but can’t play any games online. Having issues as well? What’s up Msoft? Primetime is no time for a shutdown.

Jeffrey Katzenberg joins Zynga’s board of directors

Jeffrey Katzenberg, one third of the holy trinity of Dreamworks’ founders, can now be found on the Board of Directors at Zynga as well. On theZynga blog, Mark Pincus shared: “Jeffrey and I have been friends for some time, and I knew he’d be a great fit for the board after he suggested that the blockbuster of 2011 could be ShrekVille.” Please don’t. With Zynga’s mainVilletitles slowly losing momentum or peaking, Katzenberg’s experience could be invaluable to the social games juggernaut....

L.A. Noire gets ‘Reefer Madness’ next week, trailer now

Another add-on case forL.A. Noire, another quick trailer involving fleeing suspects, yelling, and accusing people of hiding something. This one is called “Reefer Madness,” appropriately enough. It’s a Vice case, so you’ll have to put up with more of that jerkface Roy Earle. It’ll be up on PlayStation Network ($3.99) and Xbox Live (320 Microsoft Points) on July 12. Those with the Rockstar Pass will get it for free, as per usual....

Leaked Uncharted 2 images are pants-tentingly awesome

As I’ve said time and again,Uncharted: Drake’s Fortunewas my favorite PS3 exclusive of 2007 (even though I spent more time withWarhawk). Part of the reason was its beautiful, lush environments, which remain, to this day, some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen on the PS3 — and for my money, they rival those of visually heralded 360 games likeGears of War. And that was only with “30 or 40 percent” of the PS3’s power!...

Leipzig GC 2007: Test driving the Wii Balance Board

I stepped up to theWii FitBalance Board feeling rather ambivalent about the whole thing. On the one hand, while I’m a big fan of what Nintendo is doing in taking games beyond being playthings and into the new realm of mainstream experience, I personally just don’t feel the need for a fitness training programme in my living room. On the other hand, since the new gadget was announced I’ve been dreaming up all kinds of other uses for it....

When we got wind ofLimbofor PlayStation Networkby way of a Korean ratings board, I wasn’t expecting to hear anything about it — especially not on the record — for some time to come. Siliconerahas a blurry scan of of a Japanese magazine showingTales of Symphoniacharacter Lloyd making his fighting game debut in the upcomingSoul Calibur Legendsas a playable character. Lloyd makes for a good fit for a sword-wielding fighting game character, as he’s always toted two blades....
