Blacklight Retribution dev diary shows the excited team

I remember picking up the originalBlacklight, subtitledTango Down, and thought it had some neat ideas to it, but that it could use a bit more to it. Thankfully, the guys from Zombie Studios are back, and talking theirfree-to-play sequelin this new developer video diary. For the most part, they just discuss what they wanted withTango Down, and howRetributionkicked off. They also bring up some of the new additions over gameplay footage, but for the most part this is a showing of what appears to be genuine excitement for the game being made....

Boing Boing interviews Zero Punctuation

If you have a soft spot forFoamy the Squirrelstyled rantings and happen to be a gamer as well, surely Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw’s reviews hitting the nets were the equivalent of Jesus Christ arriving with homemade sin-erasing cookies. Finally, a reviewer that speaks his mind(other than us, of course!)Some readers were critical, however, saying all Croshaw really does is rant. Brink dev: 1% of games shouldn’t make 99% of the profit

Brinkdeveloper Splash Damage has criticized the near-monopoly that certain games have on the market, lamenting the state of affairs that sees a small fraction of titles rake in the majority of the money. According to the studio, this hampers innovation. “1% of the games make 99% of the profit, leaving everything else to wither on the vine,” said Splash Damage’s Richard Ham. “This can be bad for innovation. We’ve got to find ways to get people interested in some of the other stuff out there, because a lot of it is REALLY good and deserves to succeed, otherwise risk-taking will become rarer and rarer....

Burn Zombie Burn launches today, have some cake and masks

A childish party atmosphere may not be the most fitting tribute when it comes to zombies, but that is nevertheless the atmosphere cultivated byBurn Zombie Burndeveloper Doublesix. Captain Obvious: 80GB PS3 is staging ground for Sony VOD service

We all knew it was a matter of time before Sony began talk of rolling out its own video on demand service worldwide much like Microsoft’s Xbox Live Marketplace. All the pieces are there for the PlayStation 3: large hard drive, built in wireless and ethernet connection, and an online store that can easily be updated. And of course, Sony just so happens to be one of the largest movie and music studios, so a well-rounded relationship between that division and the PS3’s digitial distribution capabilities seems like a match made in capitalism heaven....
