Here’s a new batch of screenshots and character art for Tecmo Koei’s upcoming PS3-exclusive,Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll. It’s being put together by Omega Force, the chaps more commonly know forDynasty Warriors. It’s nice to see them do something different, and this is looking good. The game’s first review got a 7/10 inOfficial PlayStation Magazine, which Koei is quite pleased by. That’s because Koei is suitably humble enough to realize that not everything under a nine is being called shitty....

The book, already available in the UK, is presented as a standalone novel that aims to be accessible to newcomers as well as provide a new perspective for fans of the games. It appears thatLittleBigPlanet 2is enjoying a very nice launch, debuting this week at number one. The originalLittleBigPlanetdid not manage to achieve this, if memory serves, so that’s a nice little victory for a nice little game! Sackboy and his dead-eyed chums have shuntedCall of Duty: Black Opsinto second place. Meanwhile,Mass Effect 2has seen a resurgence of sales, re-entering the chart in seventh position. That’s about the only thing of note, as the rest of the chart is your usual crap....

The UK is launching its first ever National Videogame Archive in a bid to preserve the history of interactive entertainment. Nottingham Trent University spearheaded the move, working together with the National Media Museum in Bradford. The archive will be a testament to all that gaming has done for global culture, fromPongtoHalo. The new archive will be housed at the National Media Museum and will be managed, steered and researched in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University’s Centre for Contemporary Play....

Review code for Quantic Dream’sHeavy Rainhit my doorstep today, and of course Sony couldn’t just send along a disc — it had to send along an entire box. What’s in the box? Oh, you know. Some stuff. Spiderweb Software founder Jeff Vogel has written an interesting little article imploring fellow game developers not to spend too much time in the trenches with the fans. Vogel provides three sound reasons for not reading online forums discussing your work: It’s not productive to read how much people hate you, it’s not going to be helpful, and you might get suckered into being angry. Citing unreasonable hatred from fans and unhelpful, contradictory development ideas from people who don’t know what they’re talking about, he provides some solid reasons for keeping your fanbase at arm’s length....

News on theWarhammer 40k: Dawn of War IIfront has been rather quiet as of late, but that’s finally changed with the arrival of this new trailer and a pack of screenshots. I’ve always been more of a Slugga Boy at heart, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. The focus this time around seems to be entirely based on connecting you with the squads you’ll be commanding, which isn’t sounding so hot for a guy like me who sends most of his troops off on suicide missions....

Hope you don’t scare too easily, because this new trailer forFEAR 3is… oh, who am I kidding? It’s really not all that frightening, but here’s what you’re in for: FEAR 3is out this year, and features a cooperative campaign where each player (as Paxton Fettel or Point Man) has unique abilities and a different view of the game world. Microsoft has remained tight-lipped about a British Xbox 360 price cut, but there is at least one retail chain in the UK that will be flogging The ‘Soft’s machines cheap this Christmas. Accordingto reports, high street store Woolworths will be reducing its 360s. How nice of them. The Arcade SKU will be sold for £129.99 while the Premium model is to have an asking price of £169.99. The Elite will set you back by £229....

The Wii has a reputation for being a sales powerhouse, but according to the latest data, it would seem that at least in Britain, it’s the Xbox 360 that’s become the breadwinning console. The Annual General Meeting of The GAME Group hasreleased sales datathat shows the 360 outselling the Wii at a ratio of two to one. The data, which covers all UK retailers, shows that from February to June this year, the Wii sold 300,000 units while the Xbox 360 was able to shift 600,000....
