Official word has come thatGears of War 2will not be coming to Germany or Japan this November, with the game remaining indefinitely unreleased in either territory. “We can confirm thatGears of War 2will not be available inGermanyorJapanindefinitely,” a Microsoft spokesman told Edge. Now here’s an interesting little slice of news. I’m sure many of you are familiar withThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Bethesda’s opus is still highly regarded for its ambition, scope and, of course, size. I find it ironic, then, that the engine that powered it, Gamebryo,has now been licensedfor use on Nintendo’s Wii, famed for not being such a powerhouse. Games industry analystMichael Patcher knows how to keep eyebrows raised, and this time he hits us with the prediction that Xbox 360 exclusiveGears of Warwill eventually be a PlayStation 3 title. He points to Epic Games’ familiarity with the PS3 hardware as a reason, and tells Game Trailers that“we pretty much know thatGears of War 3is probably gonna’ come out on PS3.” This assumes that Microsoft has a two-game deal with Epic for theGears of Warfranchise, and after that Epic will be free to move the series to the platform of their liking....

There’s nothing that can clog your arteries and catch your breath like the possibility of having one of your favorite old games remade. Today Rare senior animator, Elissa Miller, crushed my dreams. She told360 Gamermagazine that reviving a classic series isn’t in the cards for Rare right now. At the moment, probably not. We’ve always got to have a reason to revive a franchise, we don’t do games just for the sake of them....

Do you like the old Rare games? I do. Hell, I think they helped save a certain game system back in the day. Perfect Dark was a kick ass game that is now coming back as a remake to the Xbox Live Arcade very soon. But what about other Rare classics? As you’d imagine, Rare is totally game with re-releasing their old games.
