Don’t fear the reaper, play him!

In honor of Halloween,GameTaphas pulled together a pretty solid list of games that feature Mr. Death himself, the Grim Reaper. The list includes obvious nods toDeath Jr.andGrim Fandango, both stellar games that feature a reaper character. They even manage to throw in retro entries likePaperboyandGauntlet. Major nerd props (and gamer cred) to GameTap staff for the inclusion of bothRomancing SaGaand games from theShin Megami Tenseiseries.Anyone who’s playedPersona 3will tell you that it’s time to haul ass when you hear Death’s chains dragging on the ground in the distance....

Dragon Age Comic sees a delay

It looks like IDW Publishing’sDragon Age: Originscomicsneed more time in the oven. According toBig Download, who spoke to IDW editor-in-chief Chris Rydall, the comic will see an April release instead of March. The second issue of the series, co-written by Orson Scott Card, will see a June release. No reason was given for the delay, but we’re guessing it had something to do with a failed attempt to contain all the awesome ofDragon Ageinto itsy-bitsy panels and speech bubbles....

Dust: An Elysian Tail gets new, incredibly beautiful trailer

We first talked aboutDust: An Elysian Taila few months ago, where we called it “Odin Spherefor Furries.” However, pleasedo not let this game’s furry leanings put you off, becauseDustis so gorgeous, I’m having trouble believing it will appear on the Xbox 360’s Indie Games Channel instead of Xbox Live Arcade, especially with thisnew trailer. It’s a sidescrolling brawler at heart, with a storyline based on ananimated feature filmcurrently being created by Dean Dodrill....

E3 08: Miyamoto: Wii Music ‘more interesting than videogames’

I don’t ever like to be too harsh with my opinion, butWii Musiclooks like vapid trash. Hey, Icouldbe wrong, but I get a kind ofvapid trash-esquevibe from it somehow that I just can’t seem to shake. Design legend Shigeru Miyamoto knows more about it than I do, however, and has stated that his new pantomime horse is “more interesting than a videogame.” MTV’s Stephen Totilogot the wordfrom the man himself: At a Nintendo developer’s roundtable event this evening in Los Angeles, a German journalist asked Nintendo designerShigeru Miyamotoif it would be more appropriate to call “Wii Music,” which lacks goals and points, a” toy” rather than a “video game....

E3 10: Call of Duty: Black Ops shown off

Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, at Microsoft’s E3 2010 press conference, gave a demonstration ofCall of Duty: Black Ops. Haters are gonna hate, but I thought it looked quite cool. Very, very muchCall of Duty-like, but cool nonetheless. The demo started off inside a tunnel, complete with mutilated bodies and rats. From there, a fellow soldier was stabbed right before your eyes, and after a quick battle inside the underground, the presentation skipped forward....

E3 10: Hollie and Holmes vs. Dead Rising 2

This is probably the last video featuring the cheeky Hollie Bennett and shiny-headed Jonathan Holmes that you’re going to see, at least for the next twenty minutes. Here we get some time in withDead Rising 2. In the first video, seen above, Hollie beats some zombies into second-death with a paddle, only to eventually succumb to the dreaded “zombie B.J.” fatality attack. After the jump, see a real-life zombie paw at Hollie and Holmes as they sit atop a motor bike and talk about the game....

EA moving away from distribution partnerships (Update)

Earlier this week, Electronic Artsrevealed their upcomingline-up for the next year. All of the games mentioned are internally developed titles and externally developed games such asRock BandandLeft 4 Deadwere nowhere to be seen. Nowcomes word thatEA is moving away from their distribution plans. The main reason for this? Why money of course! EA sees better profits from in-house production compared to partnerships with Valve, Harmonix and others. Now this of course doesn’t necessarily mean that EA won’t publish titles such asRock Bandanymore....

European Last Window: The Secret of Cape West site opens

A new European site forLast Window: The Secret of Cape Westhas opened up with a bunch of screenshots, the above video and more. There’s a great prologue in there which fills in some of the gaps between the events ofHotel Dusk: Room 215andLast Windowwhich is worth the time to read. If you did not playHotel Dusk: Room 215, you missed out on a fascinating and well-crafted game for the DS. Everything is turning into the Wii

Wii fever is (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on who you are) still gripping America with its motion-controlled simplicity. So much so, in fact, that TVs and PCs set to debut next year are including “gesture” control that isalready being comparedto Nintendo’s white box o’ waggle. The runaway success of the Wii and the appeal of touch-screen devices like the iPhone are being said to have influenced this new look at gesture technology, with advances in camera technology making PCs and TVs that recognize movement a very realistic proposition....

Fact: Cats don’t like Squeeballs

A crate did the job of my floor mat this afternoon when I found one sitting in front of my door after having spent an hour or two outside of The Fortress of Metal (aka Nicholson HQ). Thinking bomb, I didn’t mess with it, opting instead to walk around the massive wooden box to get into my apartment. A few minutes later, I came to realize it was probably videogame swag — something I need to get in the habit of reporting to the FTC like a good little American....
