Three-minute Left 4 Dead 2 trailer is just… wow

Holy. Crap.I hope you’re sitting down, because the three minutes ofLeft 4 Dead 2footage above is more incredible than I had thought it would be before I pressed play. And believe me, I had pretty high expectations. I’ll also be honest, I don’t know what it is — the game’s intro, a really expensive promo video, or a message from God. But when it’s this awesome, who cares?Left 4 Dead 2ships in November, and I’m thinking about starting up a petition to get Valve to ship it next week....

Tomopop reviews Kotobukiya’s Rock Man model kit

We here at Destructoid enjoy toys a lot, but would you call us experts? No friggin way. We keep the experts on toys locked up in cages in our basement and make them write over at our extremely amazing sister site Tomopop. What are they playing with now? A Rock Man (Mega Man) model kit from Kotobukiya. I have no clue who or what a Kotobukiya is, but you can find out if they make a good Rock Man model kit because Tomopop has now reviewed it....

TOP TEN: Innovative uses for the Wiimote

So, Hannah, Pedro, Roleypolinde and I were talking earlier on Ventrilo, and discussing the Wii, when we came up with the idea for this post. I don’t usually do Top Ten posts, but this is something I’ve been wanting to work on for quite a while now. Between ourselves, the four of us managed to come up with quite a lot of stuff, some of which is serious and some of which is just going to make you go “WTF?...

Trials Evolution’s multiplayer will ruin friendships

IfTrials HDsomehow wasn’t able to break you, don’t act surprised when RedLynx is able to finish the job withTrials Evolution. The former remains one of my favorite Xbox Live Arcade games, in part because of the soul-crushing challenge it presents, and this follow-up is adding multiplayer (among other things) to keep the experience fresh. So, multiplayer inTrials— how does that even work? I tried out a few rounds of the local multiplayer, which supports up to four people....

UK games developers want tax breaks, form Games Up campaign

Fifteen game studios, in association with Tiga and ELSPA,have unitedunder the Games Up campaign banner to put pressure on the British government to give tax breaks to the games industry. The industry was accused of not voicing concern with the government using a unified voice, and now Games Up has been formed, seemingly in answer to that challenge. The coalition counts for 75% of the UK’s games industry and is hoping to raise awareness about the needs of the sector as well as get politicians to take it seriously and start investing....

Valve all but confirms Steam for Mac using faux ads

Oh Valve and your adorable marketing team — is there anything you can’t do? Taking a break from the absolutely insanePortalshenanigans, let’s instead take a look at some swanky pictures that various game-covering outlets received today. So far, this is what we’ve got: Gordon Freeman with an Apple logo (MacRumors), a Mac ad parody (MacNN), aTeam Fortress 2-flavored iPod parody (Shacknews), Francis saying “I hate different” (Eurogamer), a faux old-school magazine ad for Steam (Rock, Paper, Shotgun), and finally, a recreation of Apple’s memorable 1984 commercial (Joystiq)....

Virtua Fighter 5: More details and footage

I’m not sure how I became the person to post aboutVirtua Fighter 5so much, I don’t even like the series or any games in this genre. But, I can certainly appreciate the subculture for it and how purty it is. In case you’re not like me and don’t watch every single 1UP Show, then you probably missed their little breakdown and preview of this PlayStation 3 title. Hope this sheds some light into your little fighting world....

Want to become a ‘Doritos Gaming Consultant?’ You can!

RememberDoritos: Dash of Destruction? How could you forget? The game was surprisingly not terrible for a little free game that was designed purely for Achievement whores, and the charm of a game in which hungry dinosaurs try to eat trucks full of popular corn snacks can’t be denied.Dash of Destructionwas evidently a successful venture for all involved, because they’re planning to do it again and are offering $50,000 to anyone who can design a game....

Warriors Orochi 2 PSP screen: Like regular WO2 screens, but smaller and wider

Warriors Orochi 2is heading to the PSP and looking to continue the series trend of cramming all the content from console versions into a UMD with as little compromise as possible. I found myself highly impressed withWarriors Orochi’s PSP conversion, so I’m glad to see the sequel, which looks like the most completeWarriorsgame yet, is getting the portable treatment. Koei haspledged its supportfor the PSP, joining other Japanese publishers who see money in Sony’s handheld....

White Knight Chronicles story trailer looks nice, has clowns

We’ve been talking aboutWhite Knight Chronicles, the PlayStation 3 exclusive role-playing game, for some time now. I thinkTokyo Game Show in 2007was the first time we saw it up close. But for as long as we’ve been hearing about it, we haven’t seen much more in the way of details other than some screenshots and vague story elements. To be honest, it’s taking so long that I find my interest fading....

Why the Dante’s Inferno criticism can go to Hell

Much ado has been had over Electronic Arts’Dante’s Inferno, aGod of War-esque action game that has used the famous poem of the same name as its thematic backdrop. As in Dante’s epic, players will have to travel the nine circles of Hell, but instead of painting a vivid view of Christian afterlife, they’ll be planting crucifixes into the heads of noobs and reveling in mindless slaughter while sentient genitalia gnash at them....

Wii Music used to teach students how to wave their arms around

I think it’s safe to say that Wii Music has not quite met Nintendo’s expectations based on less than titanic sales, but we’ve also heard word frompracticing musiciansabout how sound a tool it is for actual education. Nintendo seems unphased as usual, recently announcing a collaborative effort with MENC: The National Association for Music Education to place Wii Music in schools curriculums. While I would never claim thatWii Musicis entirely useless to students, I do think that its creative applications are far greater than any actual hardcore musical knowledge one would take away from playing it....
