Old Splatterhouse devs back on game: Well, some of them

Many of you will remember the rathernasty separationof developer Bottlerocket and Namco Bandai’sSplatterhousegame. Bottlerocket was working diligently on the retro revival before Namco suddenly pulled the rug out from under them and gave the project to its in-houseAfro Samuraiteam. Well, apparently most of the Bottlerocket devs areback to working on the game. Seems they weren’t doing such a bad job after all. Apparently, Namco Bandai has “quietly” opened a new office in San Diego and has recruited between ten and twenty designers, artists, programmers, producers and others from Bottlerocket to keep working onSplatterhouse....

Once Upon a Pixel: Bioshock

If we lived in a world where videogames didn’t exist, where would their stories go? Into science fiction books? Big budget movies? Gritty graphic novels? Educational children’s shows? My brand new series, as previously seen in an episode ofHey Ash, Whatcha Playin’?, explores this mysterious and strange world where games are presented through other means, where they often end up as something completely opposite of what we know them to be....

Podtoid 156 records later today!

Podtoid 156 records later today (I need somebody to remind me to do these bloody things on a Monday). As always, we need your questions to give us something to talk about at the end because of tradition! No idea what we’re talking about as it’s been a damn slow week, but I expect there will be discussion of the SCOTUS ruling and some smug laughing at timewasting Senator Leland Yee....

Podtoid 62: Beefburgers

There’s something oddly soothing about hearing Jim Sterling refer to Reggie Fils-Aime using meat metaphors. On this week’s Podtoid, the regular cast discussed all things E3, the Wii’s transformation, and obese, female royalty. You can listen to ithere, as always. The horrors ofCastlevaniafarming Jim wishes to do unpleasant things to Cammie Tiff Chow: says something If you haven’t playedRhythm Tengokuyou are only half a human being Taumpytears has the greatest idea in the history of ideas...

Preview: Madden NFL 12 for mobile devices

Like I mentioned in myFIFA 12 iOSpreview, I had not really used an iPad until EA’s Summer Showcase, so playing the mobile version ofMadden 12was an interesting experience to say the least. For those who played last year’s game, EA is promising several big additions, which seem like genuine improvements that will lend this mobile game depth. With respect to the actual gameplay, however, it was hard for me to get past the unfamiliar touch controls and comparisons withMadden 12’s console“big brother” I had played prior....
