ZeniMax trademarks ‘Brink’

ZeniMax Media Inc. — the parent company of Bethesda Softworks — recently filed a UPSTO trademark for the videogame title “Brink.” Cue the spooky music. As is usual, there isn’t a sliver of information in the trademark papers about what the game is or even a solid lead on what platform it may rear its head (if ever).Gamespotis guessingBrinkcould be the mysterious project Bethesda and Splash Damage have been working on for quite some time....

I’m in the market for an iPod Touch, so App games are hitting my radar quite frequently. As a fan of titles that throw you into dungeons full of monsters and loot,Zenoniais looking pretty hot to me right now. Doesn’t seem like I’d have much time to play such a deep and lengthy RPG though, asZenonia 2has is being forwarded for App Store approval. If you’re wondering what the sequel is like, try and get the information from the trailer above....

Activision launches official Guitar Hero community Web site, groupies included

That’s the name of our game here at Destructoid — collecting groupies like comic books. So it’s almost as if Activision and Agora Games were in our heads when they partnered to create anofficialGuitar Herocommunity Web site. Once the game launches on October 28, players can “go on tour” by creating or joining a group to compare scores, and compete in global head-to-head tournaments against other tour groups. But really completing the experience, is the ability to acquire groupies, which is determined by your popularity on “Backstage Pass....

Amnesia: Dark Descent out on Sept. 8, remember fear

Horror games can be a tough sell, because it’s hard to tell someone that a game issooo scarywithout raising their expectations so high that they’ll never actually be scared. Thus, I’ll try to stick to the facts when I talk aboutAmnesia: Dark Descent. It’s out on September 8th, and was developed by Frictional, who also made thePenumbragames, which were scary enough to be included in theHumble Indie Bundle. It’s a “survival horror” game in a truer sense of the word than has been applied to the likes ofResident EvilandDead Space, which of late have been more about the shooting-dudes stuff than the being-scared-out-of-your-wits stuff....

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood devs forced to wear robes

You’ve seen many developer diaries, but none like this, one where the developers are forced to wear robes and look menacing under low lights. It’s forAssassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and while I’m sure all of these guys will regret agreeing to the robe thing, they look to be making up for it with an awesome game. It’s not a sequel (we still expect anAssassin’s Creed III), and it’s not an expansion (this is definitely a fully-realized retail game)....

Braid developer working on a 2D RPG, game subject to change

Jonathan Blow’sBraidblew my mind. After I watched the credits and snivelled — not a traditional snivel, more like a series of fluid coughs with very mild weeping — I wondered what Blow would do next. According to an interview with the developer, a 2D RPG is in the works and it’s “looking very promising.” Unfortunately, the game may not pan out. “My newest game I started is looking very promising, “ he toldGamasutra....
