French kid stabs his sister in the name of the DS

From stabbing people over handheld videogame consoles to draping themselves in Christmas lights and trying to somehow make it sexual innuendo, the French are clearly a … unique bunch. TheLe Postrecently reported a five year old boy who stabbed his ten year old sister with a kitchen knife in their Uckange home, apparently because she refused to give him her DS. Further investigation revealed that the boy’s inspiration to use the knife in such a way way have come from a Power Rangers episode that included knife throwing, and also that the family has a history of domestic violence....

Games of the week for 04/25/10: Riverleap edition

I have been obsessed withRiverleap. The game was free on iTunes this weekend, and it is amazing. It’s not actually very good, considering the graphics are weird and confusing, the gameplay is based on pure luck and death comes frequently, yet there’s something intangibly wonderful about it. Very weird, very Southern, very fun, even though it shouldn’t be. Other games were played. Check ’em out after the jump. Guitar Hero 5 does away with in-game Friend Codes

Now that the RRoD is pretty much taken care of let’s take quick poll of everyone here and ask what the most annoying thing is in all of gaming. I’ll give you a hint: it starts with Friend and ends with Codes. Friend Codes are the bane of any online Wii gamer (not such an oxymoron anymore) not really because they exist — I think we’ve all managed to swap our Wii’s number with the people we want to swap it with — but because our Wii friend code actually does very little since almost every single game that features online has needed its own separate code to type in....

Hands-on: Wildlife: Forest Survival

Wildlife: Forest Survivalis one of the weirdest class-based versus games I have ever played. Different from the upcomingTokyo Jungle, Wildlife: Forest Survivalonly has four animals, and is an arena based game that’s in cute forest environments. It’s all rather odd, and it is certainly like nothing else on the market. Follow for more. Here’s how to play any board game from now on

Online gaming is a very unique experience. It’s comprised of a cesspool of morons that spend most of their days being insulting immature brats. So what happens when you take a douche gamer and make him play a board game? AsRecklessTortugashows us, nothing good at all. Although I will be screaming “lag” from now on when a person takes to long to make a move in a board game. Yeah, okay, so I’m a mild douche gamer....

Holiday cards: Persona 4’s Teddy sends season’s greetings

The fine folks at Atlus send along holiday greetings as the cards continue to hit Destructoid HQ. The wierd zipper-faced bear mascot of Atlus’ latest RPG hit,Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, conveys Atlus’ well wishes to the Destructoid staff. Inside the card, as you’ll see in our gallery, it says “Beary Happy Holidays from the Atlus Family,” keeping with the bear puns that Teddie throws out throughout the game. For those that haven’t played the game, Teddie may not look like anything serious, but he’s a fairly deep character....
