The whole “should virtual goods be taxed?” debate has been a matter of concern for quite a while now, and while I doubt many of us are keen on the idea of giving the government even more money to misuse, at least one person thinks that politicians should get a slice of that downloadable Horse Armor. “Economic activities in virtual worlds may present an emerging area of tax noncompliance, in part because the IRS has not provided guidance about whether and how taxpayers should report such activities,”claimsIRS taxpayer advocate Nina Olson....
A few weeks ago, we ran a rumor that saidKillzone 3wasin development for a 2010 release. Now the rumor hasgained more groundwith a Guerrilla’s animation director allegedly confirming the game and stating that it could indeed be ready by next year. Jan-Bart Van Beek is quoted as saying thatKillzone 3is in the works right now and they’re currently looking at a 2011 release date, with a 2010 launch entirely possible. Beek says that Sony is not pressuring the team for a 2010 release, so it’s a case of the game being ready when it’s ready, I guess....
Nintendo’s E3 2010 press conference was hailed by many (myself included) as a true message that Nintendo hadn’t forgotten the so-called “core” gamer. It’s almost time to get wet inLittleBigPlanet. The oft-teased Water update and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” content are scheduled to hit PSN on December 22nd. We should add that these two bits are intertwined, a combined piece of DLC. Lost Planet 2is getting patched! Yay! The patch will fix a bunch of bugs and will rebalance a number of things. Here’s the break down fromCapcom-Unityof what’s getting fixed: The title updates will hit the PlayStation 3 on June 7 and sometime shortly after for the Xbox 360 version ofLost Planet 2.
Here’s a little bit of non-news that involves math.MTV Multiplayergot some time with the upcomingWolfenstein, and during their gameplay they saw that their progress was being kept track of. Percentages popped up as they picked up things and killed Nazis. Evidently they had a good time with it as by the end of their game they had killed 639 evil Nazis and gotten through about 36 percent of the game (or more likely they were put into the game that far along)....
The downloadable PlayStation gameMediEvilhas been pulled down from the PlayStation Network due to a bug that causes the game to crash. Sony toldEurogamerthat this bug, which causes the game to stop on the third level, led to the withdrawal this week. There is no given date for the patched return, but Sony says it will eventually return to the PlayStation Store once fixed, and anyone who originally purchased the game will be able to download it again for free....

Recently, Sony proudly boasted that the PlayStation Network had surpassed 20 million members, putting its numbers ahead of Xbox Live by a cool 3 million. Well, it’s been a while since we had the two companies tugging each others’ hair and giving out dead legs in the schoolyard, so naturally a Microsoft spokesmancame out to questionthe numbers and accuse Sony of filthy, rotten lies. “When we talk about our numbers we feel they’re active users who are actively engaged in all the forms of entertainment we offer on Xbox 360,” explains MS UK’s Stephen McGill....
